Third Line Center to Ducks

What would it take for the Ducks to acquire a solid third line center to play with McMillan. Also what solid UFA third line centers are there this off season?

I'm hoping Murray gets either Goc or Belanger for Mac.

Assuming he get Konopka also:

Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry
XXX-Koivu-Selanne
McMillan-Goc/EB-XXX
Winchester-Konopka-Parros

That looks loads better than last season....and if we could get a guy like Jokinen or Leino, I think we could be very good this year.

You guys want Pahlsson back? If Johansen makes the team (which it looks like he will), he'll be something of a spare here; we're kind of moving away from having a dedicated shutdown line.

I'm not sure what assets you guys have and what their value is, tho, so I dunno what sort of proposal to make.

Pahlsson back? Yes please! What are your needs?

No to Drury.

I'm surprised you don't have Palmieri making the team on the 3rd line. Does he need another year?

I really think Palmieri's chances depend on which way the team goes. Most Duck fans predict that Murray will sign a checking line center who is more defensive minded. If that happens Palmieri will probably spend another year in the AHL because McMillan would be better suited for a defensive line role. The biggest chance for him to make the roster is if Murray aquires another 2nd line center to play with Ryan, which is what I'm praying happens. Then we'd have 3 scoring lines and Palmieri would have a better chance of making the roster. It still wouldn't be a given though, and would probably depend on his camp.

Belesekey/FA/McMillan-Getzlaf-Perry
Palmieri/McMillan-Trade/FA-Ryan
Blake-Koivu-Selanne
Belesekey/FA-FA-Parros
Chipchura/FA

Jay McClement would be available from the Avs for the right price.

As DS said it depends if we roll a third scoring line, or a checking line. I think we'll go with a checking line again, but who knows

Any way it could be Lydman? Jackets add RFA rights to Lepisto or Stralman?

I don't think we want to trade Lydman 'cos he has good chemistry with Vishnovsky. If we lose Lydman it just creates another hole 'cos we really need defensive defender. I don't want Lepistö and I'm guessing that Stralman is as good as him?

So you guys need some Lydman -type defender? Excluding Lydman we really don't have any NHL -ready defensife defenders, so how about a draft pick and a defender prospect? Clark and Mitera fit the bill. So one of them and a pick?

Don't have any idea why you are putting Winchester in there. He took too many bad penalties and Carlyle lost faith in him. Can't see him being brought back. I think Ruutu is more likely to be brought back then he is. Speculating our lineup before the draft is almost pointless though. A lot, including myself, think the Ducks are going to be active trade wise at the draft. However if we are going to assume there won't be any big moves, I'd say the lineup is currently looking like:

Ryan-Getzlaf-Perry
Blake-Koivu-Selanne
Belesekey/prospect-FA-McMillan
Belesekey/FA-FA-Parros

The whole point of this thread is to speculate the price.

Yeah I figured might as well ask about Lydman.

On the blueline, Jackets need genuine NHL players. If we're going the pick/prospect route, a forward or goalie would be better.

...came in here to post this, basically. Goaltending prospects are especially needed here; in the AHL, our starting goaltender tandem is Allen York (with 4 games of AHL experience and a brand new pro contract) and the Shooter Tutor.

That said, from what I hear Anaheim isn't exactly in a much better position there.
