Leafs interested in Drury?

Quote:
I'm hearing that Toronto, Los Angeles, and Anaheim will be interested in Drury's services.
Quote:
If the Sabres take a pass on signing Drury, it won't matter as he will be attracting attention from the Leafs, Kings, and Ducks.

Brian Burke is a huge Drury fan, and knows the Trumbull, CT gamer from the Team USA Olympic team. The Leafs won't get Brad Richards, however, Burke will be intent on strengthening his team up the middle. Drury will provide a stabilizing force on the dot and on special teams.

Wouldn't mind him as a Faceoff/PK specialist on our fourth line.

Ehhhhh.

He'd be the third or fourth option IMO, and it has to be a sweetheart contract (1-2 years, 2-3M max)

Yeah, I agree with that. I wouldn't object to Burke signing him.

Of course Eklund is going to mention Toronto but Burke has avoided the reclamation projects up to now.

Give him more hits guys!

Nowhere near his NYR contract.

We still go for Richards.

Who said it was Eklund? You should actually try clicking on the link.

It is his site but it wasn't him who claimed Toronto/Burke is interested in Drury.

If Burke signs Drury for anything over 2 million a season that would be a horrible use of precious cap space. I would be fine with bringing in Drury on a 1 - 2 year contract with a 1.2 - 2 million cap hit. Anything more for a bottom six specialty PK/faceoff centre and you are vastly overpaying. If we can't get him in that range then Burke has to pass.

As much as I love Armstrong, he's overpaid. We can't have a bunch of 3 million dollar players in our bottom six. Wouldn't leave much room to fill our major needs this summer.

I have no problems with one or max two year deal for 2 million.

He would be a great 3rd line centre.

Anything more then that, it would be terrible.

It's only logical to assume Burke would have some interest in Drury after his Olympic team selection when arguably better players were available. Probably shouldn't need some random hockeybuzz blogger to tell you that.

I ignore anything reported or speculated by hockey buzz, but I think Chris Drury will be a pretty solid addition to this team if he's healthy, though.

He was never worth the contract he signed, but he's still a very capable forward when he's healthy. He'll be big on the PK and face offs.

If he comes in cheap, I'd welcome him here. We need one or two veterans on this team as well.

1 year 2M contract would be pretty sweet.

Gives him a chance to bounce back and provides us with a veteran third or fourth line option.

It's always good to have depth and we are not very deep at center at the pro level.

I agree and if he could help mentor some of our younger guys mainly Kadri, playing on the third line with Army and Kadri could be very effective

I agree fully, no way I would click that site and let him get a penny for his garbage.

So, who wrote it? if it wasn't Eklund, maybe it has a shred of credibility.

Drury was a pretty good player in his prime, and would have helped just about any team he played for. He may be past his prime now with injuries and the like.

Same here. I wouldn't be surprised if we do get him. That would be typical. We always score 2nd or 3rd tier players. Very rarely 1st.

Please no Burke!

What the hell umm NO! we have enough 3rd or 4th liners its time to stop picking up bottom 2 line forwards and getting top 2 line forwards Im getting sick of adding players that are not important. Richards is the main idea

Drury's legs are shot and he simply can no longer keep up with the play.

He's basically a slower Tim Brent at this point.
