Sather will be looking for a tough guy to replace Boogaard. that will most likely happen. he is 31 years old and would be a cheaper option and he can forcheck and hit very well.
How about we don't sign a tough guy? We didn't utilize one last year,or the year before and we did fine toughness wise.
But knowing sather well sign someone for wither a stupid amount of money or time because he can't help himself.
i've said it a thousand times you don't really need a tough guy. Example Detroit. the whole team had 13 fights last year, 19 the year before and 11 in 08/09, and they are consistently one of the top teams in the league.
All you really need is guys that are willing to stand up for their team mates when needed. Guys like Prust, Dubi, Boyle and Sauer. i would add avery to this list but honestly i still to this day cannot figure out how and why avery picks his fights, like he has his on agenda out there.
essentially 2 4th lines...too much non-scoring going on. Fedotenko/Boyle/Prust on the 4th line is above average, leave it there and build a top line and let everyone else trickle down.
Konopka would make me happy for FOs and decent physical play. I think him and Prust can more than take care of things. Wasnt Prust top 5 in fights? Why do we need another fighter anyway? We need scorers, not redudant 4th liners.

Boyle and Prust (with the seasons they just had) are not 4th liners. 4th liners dont score 21 and 14 goals respectively. Prust will probably repeat this season's production and I think Boyle will, too. They are both going to see Barb Underhill this summer. If it it improves Boyle's skating more, and adds speed to Prust's game, I can even see them exceeding this past season's performances.
