Your team's 1st or 2nd LW/RW to VAN

Van needs major help on the 2nd line . Kesler cannot solo everything.

Flame away !

I would really like to see Mike Ribiero in a Vancouver uniform.

Brad Boyes + Chris Butler for Cody Hodgson, Ballard, and a 2nd.

Reasoning: Brad Boyes really does get a bad rap, IMHO. He was pretty good when he came to Buffalo from the Blues, until he was forced to play center. He's MUCH better at wing, and playing with Kesler I think he would put up a 20+40, 60 point year. Chris Butler is a good, young defenseman, and the Canucks would probably jump at the opportunity to swap Ballard for him.

This may be way off. I'm kinda tired

Hmmm. I don't think Vancouver is interested in trading Hodgson for those pieces, even if it does take Ballard's contract off the table.

I'd do Boyes + Butler for Ballard + 2nd + 3rd 2012

Hmm. So at the deadline, Brad Boyes is worth a 2nd round pick. So this means Chris Butler is worth Cody Hodgson and Keith Ballard? I don't think so, Tim(bo).

Basically, this deal is Butler for Ballard, and Boyes for Hodgson. Ballard is in a logjam in Vancouver, hasn't played that great when he's gotten his chances, and makes a ton of money. Butler is a good, young D-man who's coming into his own. Boyes is a winger, which Vancouver needs to play with Kesler. Hodgson really doesn't fit in with the Canucks - there's just no room for him.

I think this would set up an infinite loop where Antti Miettinen is eternally traded for himself.

I came up with a short list of players I would target in an ideal world (ie: each of these players weren't considered untouchable by their respective teams):

- Rick Nash
- Bobby Ryan
- James van Riemsdyk
- Parise
- Grabner (ugh)
- Boedker
- Voracek

The problem is all of these players are untouchable.

In conclusion, I've added nothing to this thread.

What about Paul Kariya?
He could slot in very well on the 2nd line with Kesler.
Also, he's an UFA, so the Canucks don't have to trade anyone away.

If he would sign for 1mil, then I'd be all over it.
I suppose he'd still be good for around 40 points if healthy.

It's very intriguing, but I'm going to say no for now at least.

7 million out, and like 10 million in?
Just doesn't work, remove Oduya, add from there.
If all else fails, Vancouver will look to slot Cody on the wing if he can find a good offensive game n chemistry with Kesler.

Boyes was traded for a 2nd rounder. That's all you'll get back, forget Hodgson
