Hodgson to Buffalo

With Kesler and Sedin ahead of Hodgson on the Center depth chart, it seems possible that Vancouver would be open to moving him if the right deal came along. Buffalo is in need of a top six center, and has assets.

What would Vancouver want in return?

I'd want to put him on the wing.

We'll never agree on value so lets just leave it.

Canucks fans would want to make a deal involving Stafford or Kassian, Sabres fans would never trade them.

Did I answer your question?

I can't believe the Canucks passed on him to draft Hodgson

I'd trade Kassian for Hodgson straight up. The Sabres are loaded with depth up RW and need to use it to shore up their weakness at C.

Stafford hurts though, could the Canucks even fit him in under the cap? I guess if they buyout/waive/AHL Ballard and let Salo walk then perhaps....

This is some serious revisionist history. Hodgson was seen as the #1 prospect in hockey for a while before his injury problems and there were tons of people, especially on HF, who hated Myers as a prospect.

I would do a deal around Hodgson for Kassian. Stafford wouldn't make much sense though because he just signed his extension.

Yup, it's always fun to go look at the thread for the Myers pick. We on the Sabres board keep that locked away for safe keeping when our heads get a little too big.

(I loved the pick )

Let's wait and see. What makes you think Hodgson wont develop into one of the best two way centers in the league? Having to practice against the best team in the league will do well for his development. I love how people have written him off. Just shows how stupid people are.......

I was going to say Sekera for Hodgson straight up. I might be wrong, but won't the Canucks be in need of a top 4 dman with Erhoff (sp?) and Bieksa as UFAs? Adding Pominville for a dman that has lost a lot seems like an overpayment by a lot. Maybe throw in a mid level prospect like Brennan, possibly McNabb if we must?

Hodgson to C -> Kesler to RW was apparently the plan

Why do Sabres fans want to give up Pominville so easily? Do you actually watch the games? He's a really good player.

Isn't Pominville's cap hit something like $5 million? He could address the scoring issue in the 2nd line, but the last thing we need is to further complicate our cap situation.

It is indeed 5.3 million, hence the reason I included Ballard's bloated contract.Pominville may be overpaid by 500,000 or so, but he brings 65 points a year, along with a great two way game and good PK'ing and leadership, he is a 1st line RW,and is definitely valuable.

Sekera will be cheap (under 2 million) and will be good for 30+ points.

Because I don't live in fantasy land,I understand the concept of giving up value in order to receiving it, we aren't getting Hodgson for our garbage. And as for Poms, he is definitely slipping in my eyes in terms of our forwards, I prefer Staff,Roy,Vanek, and Ennis over him.
