Carter to NJ

The Devils would love to add a Jeff Carter to the fold.

What would it take to coax him out of Philly?

Disclaimer: Very unlikely trading partners, but just want to get a feel for the value

Hahaha that will never happen.

But to play along, I'd say Tedenby, 4th and 2012 1st

We really aren't great trading partners and I don't like much about NJ.

Unless we can sign Parise for Carter money..

Oh no I understand it would never happen, I just want to see what Philly would be interested in

I think I'd do a Tedenby, 4th overall, and 2012 second

What's Carter's contract status?

It'd probably be hard to fit him into the roster next year if no salary is going back to philly

$5,272,727 cap hit until 2021-22

while Kovalchuk has a $6,666,667 cap hit until 2024-25

hey, a trade idea!

$5.2m through 21-22 season with a NTC for the 13-14 and 14-15 seasons.

I know that it's just for fun but aside from being divisional rivals, NJ and PHI are terrible partners when it comes to trading a big contract since they're both right up to the cap.

I'd want Merril and 4th overall at least for Carter, but NJ would have to dump salary, which Philadelphia can't accommodate if they want to sign Bryzgalov.

Well we can always waive Zubrus and Clarkson. As well as Salvador.

What about Carter+ for Parise obviously this is a strictly hypothetical situation because these teams do not want to help each other

But for Carter alone I'd want the 4th overall+

The thought of getting Parise for Carter makes me go from noon to midnight.

yea it was some backup goalie in the 70s for a 7th round pick the only one ever.

That Said, Parise is the piece that would have to come back. Either way neither team does it

I don't know if this post was meant to be a joke but Carter is 100x better then Tedenby now and he'll be better down the road as well. It's crazy how a rookie undersized winger can have more value then a proven 40 goal scorer.

Our board has me hating on Tedenby cause they hype the kid like he'll be the next MSL. I'll start throwing the name of St-Louis in the mix when Tedenby will prove something at the NHL level... in the mean time, some of my NJ fans needs to relax on the "overhyping".

Not just any backup goalie, it was Chico Resch.

These teams would never trade with each other, and certainly not when it would involve star players like Carter and Parise.

One thing that puts me off with Carter is his contract. He's signed forever. Also, any top 6 centre we acquire has to be a playmaker capable of playing with Kovalchuk. Carter is more of a shooting and goalscoring centre, and while there's a place for that, there's only one puck, and putting him with Kovy might not work.

I'm not sure if it's because he's a Flyer, but I've always thought Carter was overrated, although he's been a notable Devil killer the last couple seasons. As hypocritical as it sounds, I've never been overly impressed with him aside from the games against us. He's got a very sneaky wrister but I just don't see him as anything more than a pretty good ~65 point player. I think his 40 goal season was an anomaly. And Flyer fans, don't flame me for this - it's just my opinion.

Is he worth Teddy + 4th overall? Probably, but I'm just not interested in doing it. Also, our cap room would become nonexistent.
