Why have these prospects if they don't bring them over

Why haven't the Kings brought any of these prospects over? They take players like Brad Smyth, Mike Weaver and others. It dosen't make sense to me.Tell me what you think.

You don't have to. The Kings aren't the only team that does this.

Sometimes it's best to let the prospect develop their game overseas where the style of play works best for them. Also there are certain contractual advantages to keeping them in Europe. Where exactly would they put all these prospects if they brought them over anyways?

If you know the system and how it works, it does make perfect sense.

Euros rights are "forever" until they play in NA. They have the rights to guys who will never play here and so continue to list them. Jan Nemecek did play pre-season one year I think. I don't think he ever got a NA contract, he's older than dirt. Richard Petoit is a college player who is at prospect camp.

The "forever" is until age 31. I am pretty sure this is going to change with the next CBA.
Nemcek is 28 he actually played one game as a King back in 98-99

1. When you draft a Euro you keep him till he is 31.
2. Why should you pay him to play in the AHL when some nice Euro Team will pay him instead?
3. Not very many of those guys are real prospects. They are players drafted by the Kings but most are never going to get close to a NHL contract. Most of those guys are going to make good money and have a good time in which ever Euro league they want why would they want to come to North America and play in the minors?
4. I see you are a Monarchs fan. Well you have to understand just because you draft someone does not mean they should play in the AHL or even that they want to play in the AHL The various Euro Leagues pay well and play a whole different style of hockey. Many Euro players (and North American) simply don't want to play in a tougher and lessor pay league like the AHL when they can do very well for themselves back home.

Funny story on Nemecek, he played in the final home game a few years back and my friend was chosen to get a jersey off the players back. So when you see a Nemecek jersey walking around at Staples, you know how and why he has that sweater.

I was at that game, it was against St Louis and we lost 3-2 Jason Blake had a goal and a assist, McKenna (morron) got a hell of a beat from Myers and made a bad pass that resulted in a goal I was in the first row and Joel Queenville passed right in front of me. it was fun, but we had a really bad team.

Yep, the good ol' Forum days. Haven't won a damn thing since , but would have probably won John Tripp's this last season. At least he won something, but he did say that it smelt something fierce.

I thought they answered your question rather well and made complete sence. M0102 take a look at other teams prospect lists under "others" and you'll find many Euro players whom most will never come over and play. Whether it be lack of progress in their skills or size (Mantyla, Erikson, Flavin). Some players choose not to come over (Wernblom). A lot goes into it, but just like any draftee not everyone makes it.
