As much as I'd love Spezza, the Canucks couldn't afford a $7M player without ripping up our team.

Ottawa should probably add in Cowen to even up the assets at 4 a piece going each way!

Vancouvers Response: Too much money up front, creating cap problem and lack of depth...

Ottawa Response: We just lost our #1 Centre for a cap liability, 2 prospects, and only one proven quality player. We also give up 2 picks.

Are you a troll, ignorant, or is this thread in retaliation to another terrible thread?

No way Vancouver makes this deal. They were one win away from a cup. They aren't blowing up the young core/ depth of this team.

The value isn't bad, but Vancouver isn't gonna move a package like that unless a Zach Parise type of player is coming our way.

Well, Ballard is acting as the salary dump going the other way, so essentially your only gaining around $3 M extra.

Lamoriello would laugh at that package for Parise. If you really want him, Lou will ask for Kesler in return

I'll counter your proposal with:

To Vancouver:
Spezza
35th overall

To Ottawa:
Kesler
Schroeder

don't like it...cool, at least the value is there.

I don't know...I think I'm in the minority here, but I kind of like this dael from a Sens perspective. I don't know enough about Hodgson, but if Murray thinks that hodgson is a future #1 centreman, then I might pull the trigger. I think Ballard's bad season was an anomaly and Burrows is that guy that you hate unless he's on your side. Ottawa also gets another forward with top 6 potential in Schroeder.

So put me in the "yes" column from Ottawa.

You're crazy Kesler has outscored Spezza by almost 40 points the last two seasons, and is miles better defensively and plays with much more heart and isn't injury prone, why on earth would Vancouver also have to add a better piece in Jordan Schroeder that's a pathetic offer!

Ottawa's #1 centre becomes Peter Regin. Getting Alex Burrows for 2 years where he goes from playing with the Sedins to playing with the worst linemates he's had since his ECHL days seems like a terrible fit. I couldn't imagine a scenario where he doesn't leave the instant his contract is up.

It might be worth it value-wise for the Canucks, but Spezza does not fit when they've already got a great centre rotation going and they'd have to move Kesler to winger or something.

Not on a Sens team without Spezza.

That's a huge stretch. Burrows hit 35 once, and it happened while he was playing on a line with two of the most prolific forwards in the league.

Hodgson would be a great prospect if not for his injury concerns.

Calling Schroeder a good/great prospect is laughable. He's an undersized forward with very unimpressive numbers ever since being drafted.

Keith Ballard a top 4 defenseman? The guy that got sat in favour of Tanev? Who's going to be overpaid for the next 4 years?

Plus a late first and an early second in addition to Spezza. Wake up.

How about this?

Ryan Kesler
Van 2011 1st
Van 2012 1st

For

Milan Michalek
Andre Petersson
Jim O'Brien
Filip Kuba

Hodgson is a question mark that has proven nothing, Schroeder has been a bust in the AHL for the last 2 years, Ballard's contract is terrible, and Burrows........do not want that POS anywhere near this team....and why the heck would we want to give up more of our draft picks when we are rebuilding?

I never said the Devils would accept that offer, all I said is the "Canucks aren't moving the package unless a Parise kinda player is coming our way" Meaning that package isn't going anywhere.
