Both the Avalanche and me believe in BPA over need, so if they feel Larsson is the BPA then they'll take him. Otherwise, sound.

They have a huge gaping hole at wing and Landeskog fits the bill. They already have their franchise defenseman in Erik Johnson. It's always nice to have the best player but the Avs can fill their biggest need (other than a #1 goaltender) with this pick, so why not do it?

Florida has already two possible franchise defensemen(Kulikov and Gudbranson). We will draft a forward, guaranteed.

i agree with fazon, drafting larsson could actually create a conflict for the "franchise" dman of the avs. Johnson is there, dont take away his spotlight....

In response to Larsson to Florida, the Panthers obviously aren't going to be successful in the immediate future, so why draft for need now when you can have the best player available down the road?

Early 2nd round. I was thinking of slotting him in with Detroit but with Musil on the board I think they'll go with him.

Because the Avs probably feel like Huberdeau is a better player at this point (check out the Avs' beat writer) and because you don't know how the team's needs will change in 3-4 years when the potential of these players is more realized. Landeskog may be ready for the NHL, but he's not ready to come in and be Mike Richards. If we take the best player available, we have the choice that when and if the BPA reaches his potential then we can trade him (a la Chris Stewart) for another player that has reached his full potential instead of having a team of perfectly integrated second and third line players.

Also: to Matt Moulson...EJ needs a fire under him to help him. Also, it hasn't hurt Weber to have Suter or even Blum coming up. So...BPA yea?
