I really hope he brings that shiny Stanley Cup Ring to the press confrence tomorrow to atleast install some confidence with the naysayers that are bound to show up. I am estatic and feel like the Senators have got their guy. Also its wonderful that they got a bilingual, with the new TVA deal for atleast 25 more frence broadcast games it should hopefully gain the organization more Sens fans

I think Spezza will benefit most from this hire, a coach who used to score and be an offensive player.

Hope he's a good one, I don't know much about him.

Where did you hear this? I tried finding that info but couldn't find it anywhere else. I know he was born in France...but that's because his father was working for the military over there..Not sure if he actually speaks french? Would be great tho!

**** yeah, the most qualified and Best coach on the market. Assistant under the best coach in the NHL for 7 years, Stanley cup winner, PP specialist, works really well with Swedish players.

We need some sporting, welcome to the team, mustache avatars perhaps. What if he shaves it off?

Any ideas on how we are going to decide if he has been a good coach? After 1 wk when the honeymoon ends. 1 month. 1 yr if he can last that lifetime in coaching time?

33% of France born NHL players are Ottawa Senators.

MacLean and Da Costa are 2 of the only 6 France born people to have played in the NHL.

Of all the options, I think this was one of the best!

Its not Cameron, its someone with some NHL experience, under a team that has been coached fairly well over the years.

So I think its been one of the best options!

I'm happy if so. He was in charge of Detroit's defense in their 08 cup win... converted to offense for the last 2 seasons when McLellan left for the HC spot in San Jose.

I think MacLean will succeed in the East with his coaching style.

Spezza is already a PPG game player. And just transformed into a great 2 way player.

Don't bring your Spezza **** into this thread.

Whoa. Hold on. Let's let him earn it first. The Selleck stache is no slouch.

Impressive as the MacStache looks now, let's wait to see how it holds up under intense scrutiny and local media pressure.

I'm happy with the decision.

He's worked for many years on a great team with one of the best head coaches, this surely has helped on many levels into making him ready for the job.

Don't know a lot about Maclean, will need to do some research. But he's coming from the best organization in hockey, so that's a plus.

Also, I'd like to point out that this was originally broken by Travis Yost at HockeyBuzz. He does quality work, was confirmed through Bob and Darren 25ish minutes after.

Taking a wait-and-see approach with Maclean. I'm not going to throw him under the bus, as I, like 99% of the people here, know pretty much nothing about him or the way he coaches, but I'm not going to heap praises on him yet either for exactly that reason.
