Very well said. The quirks are what does me in, the air swings at the back of the court, the bouncing, the service motion, her swaying on preparation to return. Lets hope Lisicki smashes her.

She Who Must Bounce Or Die? Well, "like" is probably too strong a word, but she is capable of being a thorny, little opponent, one who often earns my grudging respect...and that was written before I realized she beat Serena! Now, I love her.

...and Wozniacki's out. I take two hours off and all hell breaks loose on the women's side. Damn.

And Cibulkova takes out the number 1.

Gotta love the WTA.

I wouldn't say she chokes, it's more like she never gets better.

I'm rooting for Kvitova. But yeah, it's not surprising Woz lost. And Djokovic takes the second set.

Pironkova breaks in the second to go up 4-2. Hopefully she can close that match out.

Pironkova looks like a Vogue model...but she serves it out. Mystifying loss for Williams.

Between Pironkova and Cibulkova one could waste part of the morning sorting through google images as they become acquainted.

Another very important part in explaining why tennis is the winner here.

Time well spent, I'd say.

I love the WTA. You never know what's gonna happen.
Wozniacki and the Williams Sisters all out on the same day. Brilliant.

Also, this. There isn't an athlete alive I despise more than that woman. Two-handed FH volley? Are you kidding me?

So:

Cibulkova - Sharapova
Lisicki - Bartoli
Paszek - Azarenka
Kvitova - Pironkova.

Just so you all know, it's exactly what I predicted. Yep.

Well, I predicted a Bartoli(please, God, no)/Kvitova final, so I'm still full in business.

Thank god the Williams sisters are out. Sadly it would of been a perfect day for me if Djokovic got eliminated too.

I said at the start that I didn't have a clue, but glancing at those quarters now, Azarenka looks awfully good. Might put a few quid on her once I get to Ireland. I'm rooting for Maria, but her serve is due to break down against somebody.

Fish takes the tie breaker of a very well played, dead-even first set.

Rafa looking sharp at 3-3 versus Del Potro.

Nadal and Carlos Ramos are no great friends. Nadal gets another warning from Ramos for a time violation.

Lopez beats Kubot in 5 after all. I can't see him being a problem for Murray though.

Trying to keep track of three matches and the level of play is outstanding in all three. This is Wimbledon at its best.

Nadal is getting his left knee checked out at the moment. Hopefully nothing too serious as he is playing beautifully...looks like they are taping the instep, actually.

I think it's his foot actually. This was a bad time to take an injury timeout - at 6-6. It wasn't a proper changeover. Oh well. Hopefully he isn't really seriously injured, but in that case this would be time wasting. The first set isn't even over and we've seen all the typical examples of Nadal controversy.

Fish takes second set and pulled away a bit on Berdych's serve in the second set. Youzhny wins the first set tie breaker, and Rafa is coming back midway through his tiebreaker.

8-6 Nadal in the tiebreaker. It's a close match... hopefully a long one too. Fish looks good.

Del Potro loses two set points and then double faults badly on the final point to lose an absolutely critical first set tie breaker. Had Rafa not gutted that out from 0-3, he would have had a mountain to climb the rest of the way.

It would seem that we are in the middle of an extraordinary day.

Federer breaks Youzhny early in the second set.
