Player buyout starts today June 15

The buyout period starts (today) June 15.

Does Burke buy any player out?

It's kinda weird it starts today as the Cup finals aren't done yet.

Anyhoo...

Can't see it happening. We don't have any contracts that make sense to buy out, and we're nowhere near the cap.

Finger is the only one I can think of that might.

buyouts cost against the cap, just bury them in the minors...

and prob just Darcy Tucker still, with side notes of

1. ledba
2. komiserak
3. finger

and if he resigns giggy, he needs to buy him out too.

Only use the buy-out if the player has a NTC/NMC otherwise off to the AHL.

Or 48 hours after the completion of the Stanley Cup Finals if they were done before today.

Agreed. Virtually no reason to buy anyone else unless MLSE refuses to pay to bury contracts.

I really dont see burke doing any buy outs, but I'm interested to see who gets bought out around the league.

I know NYR plans to buy out Drury, does anybody know of any others?

Komi has to show he can play solid minutes this year, otherwise I would buy him out to save half on the cap. I can't see Burke burying him in the minors.

Komi is a 5-6 defenseman. Not his fault he is being paid like a top 4 but his salary is WAY out of wack!!

At times he looked like a minor leaguer also. I don't want to be too hard on him, I want to give him a chance this year, but this is his last chance!

Komi gets exposed by the RW system, and would look OK in another system. He can be traded in a McCabe type deal, if need be.

It doesn't mean you'd be free of salary, but you could be free of the NTC/NMC

Ironically I think Komi would excel under Julien's system.

Buying out lebda would make no sense, we're done with his contract after this year anyway.

Same with Komi, especially as he's still serviceable. We'd be paying his buyout penalty through 2016-17.

will the new CBA allow teams to buyout players without them counting against the cap like we did with Owen Nolan.

I doubt it. Wasn't that only done because of how the salary cap was just introduced, and they had to give teams with current contracts the option to cope with the cap? All current contracts already had the cap in mind, any need for a buyout is the teams fault at this point.

We should be buying out none, just bury in minors.
If there is NTC/NTC, we are not against the cap, its best to burn down their contracts.

We'll be up against the cap when our players are due for raise and running for cup; and we can't have buyouts taking out our capspace at that time.

Obviously I can't say for certain, but I don't see it happening. That was a 1 time adjustment to a new system.

The only thing I see happening is, teams will be allowed to share salary. Not readily, but to a small scale, Burke will be able to trade Komi and eat part of his salary, without it being a re-call waivers issue. I don't know if they will allow sharing of cap hit though, but maybe.

Unless of course the cap structure alters. But likely not, agreed.

Kind of on topic, but isn't Komi's NMC a partial one? Might make things easier down the line if Burke is looking to deal him. Don't like the looks of his buyout structure.

Doubt it. MLSE has deep pockets, so sending albatross contracts to the AHL makes more sense...except for Komisarek, who has a limited NMC. But that's to big of a contract to buy out and then have all that money going towards nothing.
