Win it for Naker Prono!

If only he was with us today to see how far this team has come.

That's an old ESPN boards reference. At least, I think that's where it originated, because that's where I saw it. Can't be too awful many ESPN boards folks around anymore.

The running joke on the old ESPN boards[90's and early 00's] was that the Bruins had a highly touted prospect in Sweden, named Naker Prono. The story goes that he wanted play in North America, but Sinden, MOC and JJ wouldn't sign him...so he ended his misery by running full speed into a Sony Trinitron TV.
Posters on other boards bought into it... good times.

Yeap. I came here form there and never looked back, other than wondering what some of those guys were doing now and what they thought about the Bruins.

It was Backin72 that told me about hfboards when I had to ask him where everyone went. Makes me think about Terry.

Haha, funny how these stories change...my memory of it was that he was watching the Winter Olympics in 2002 and when Tommy Salo gave up the goal from the redline off his noggin, Naker lost the will to live and drove his own head through the TV. People then posted fake AP articles about how Naker Prono was the Bruins best prospect since Bobby Orr and that it would take years for the Bruins organization to recover from his death.

Anyway, I just had to drop this reference on the eve of probably my biggest game as a hockey fan as I was just out of high school when I posted on the ESPN boards and they really helped shape my fandom at the time.

i was a clow that came over at Terry's suggestion as well.

I often think of the people who were over there that never shifted.

Ranold from ESPN....woah what a flashback. It's been so long I can't even remember what my name was on there, might have been the same as this one. The trolling there was horrible and usually it was bruin on bruin trolling, ugh. So glad I found this site, it was the stumbling upon the ticket thread that persuaded me to join the site and get season tickets this year!

Lol no, SG initials, 17 my number from back when I played hockey.

I left that site after the guy with his user name always revolving around Lucic joined. He would get banned and have a new user name every day. It wasn't enjoyable over there anymore. I've also switched to TSN for my sports news online.

That would be pretty hardcore if I snuck Sign Guerin into my user name just for S's and G's... But I'm not the guy
