I hope Zibanejad ends up in Ottawa or Winnipeg. I'm high on him, and caffeine.

That's what's confusing.
i never said huberdeau i said earlier lando, but i personally think its strome or zibanjad that they like the most

Ok guys I'm thinking take my list and change what you think will happen to it and lets keep going into the 35 pick to get an idea of Who will be there at 35 as well.

I mean it's a fine idea to say these 5 guys would all be good pics but will they actually be there.

Anyone else gonna do a 10 - 21 andthen 22 to 35??

I've heard some stuff that would make me believe that Strome is in their top 5... is this valid? Seems pretty likely we take him, especially if my guess is right

At the time, Strome and Huberdeau were considered second-tier forwards after Nugent-Hopkins, Landeskog and Couturier all three of which would be gone before we picked. All signs pointed to us choosing between the two.

Cut the guy some slack.

Or, we can just let him explain. I'm curious to know whether we were ever high on Huberdeau or not.

Disregarding availability, I'd rate the top 6 forwards in this order.

1. RNH
2. Huberdeau
3. Couturier
4. Zibanejad
5. Lando
6. Strome

Given Adam Larsson isn't included in there, I'd rather Larsson over Lando or Strome too...

^Very interesting that you think Zibanejad is better than Lando.

In contrast, mine is:

1. RNH
2. Couturier
3. Landeskog
4. Huberdeau
5. Strome

After Strome, I'd pick the best available defenseman. I'm extremely low on Zibanejad based on very little viewing of his play, scouting reports, and personal feeling on he's going to turn out.

My thoughts on 21 are that I'd like to contrast the style of play of the guy we take at 6.

For example, if we go the rough and tumble winger route in Zibanejad or Lando, I'd like a high end skill player like Grimaldi, Khokhlachev, Jensen, Jurco, Rask or Rattie.... If Grimaldi is there at 21 I want him regardless of the scenario.

If we go the skilled center route in Couturier or Strome, I'd like a big winger to complement him in a guy like JT Miller, Biggs, Jaskin or Noesen... preferably just take Noesen at 35 in any scenario.

My ideal draft would be:
6: Landeskog
21: Grimaldi
35: Noesen
48: Nieto
61: Friberg
66: Karlsson

A good alternate plan would be:
6. Strome
21. Miller
35. Noesen
48. Nieto
61. Friberg
66. Gibson/Binnington

I think Zibanejad has higher upside than Lando, and while I think Strome has a higher upside than either, I think Z and Lando are much safer picks. That accounts for it, some.

I think Lando's downside is 2nd or 3rd line forward at the NHL level, but I can't see him being better than a 2A type forward. Strome, on the other hand, could be an elite playmaker at the NHL level, but I see it as much more likely that he is not good enough to play in the top 6 consistently.

i really think that people undervalue tyler biggs i believe that with his size and power that he could be a legit 2nd line powerf forward

Dare I say that he compares to legendary hockey player Erik Cole?

Biggs more than likely will be there at 21 he seems to be consistently projected to get picked early 20's.

I have a feeling Biggs might even be there at 35. Would totally pick him up there.

Was Murray on the team 1200 around 3:30 today? Caught the tail end of the Healthy scratches talking as if he had just been on talking about the draft...

Anyone get the "Weekly Sens Insider" e-mail today? Cool read.

I still think that if we move up it's for Huberdeau or Landeskog. If we stay put it's going to be for Couturier or Strome. The order that the scouts have the players in is hard to say because it's such a tight group at the top right now.

Rather than worry too much about what the actual pick is going to be itself, what about projections for the pick depending on who it is that we pick?

For example I can see Landeskog getting starts as high as the 2nd line right away if we pick him, while others I can see having to really fight for even a roster spot like Strome or Huberdeau. Couturier I think could very well slot in as our 2nd line centre next year if he has a good camp.

Good article on Strome from the Sens website. Makes me want him even more.
