Huskins is the true winner here. That fool just got himself a fat new contract with the money that would've been spent on Wallin.

Can he take Huskins with him as an alternate captain?

Hahaha, they misspelled his first name. "Nicklas Wallin Heads Home"

It's okay though I guess. I can never get the Niklas's and Nicklas's straight either.

Could this day get any better? Wallin is gone, Vancouver loses. Awesome.

This is wonderful to come home to. Have post-work drinks, watch Vancouver eat it, and then read that Wallin is gone. Great freaking day!

I don't quite get all the Huskins hate. He is pretty good at moving the puck and making plays while under pressure. He was terrible coming back from that injury a couple of years ago...but when he skated the rust off he was pretty good. A big, mobile d-man who isn't scared to play on the boards as a 3rd pair guy seems pretty good to me.

Saw this today while randomly looking at mercurynews.com. I was ecstatic. Now DW has to look elsewhere for a boneheaded d-man signing!

Good, hopefully this is the last 500k defenseman DW pays 2.5M+NTC to.

I'm happy Wallin is gone because he is way to much of a liability during the regular season and the coaching staff seems to be in love with him somehow.

However, I will admit, despite all my criticisms of Wallin. He really did turn it up during the playoffs and he played much better than he usually does. For that I am thankful and I wish him all the luck in the world. Nothing personal against him, just he really does not fit on this team anymore. So this is the best thing that could have happened.

See ya Wally!

Just teasing anyway.

Like others have said... it's the price to performance ratio that gets the mob angry. Wally always seemed like a good dude outside that controversy.

Funny thread.

Wallin, a veteran, a good/stable defensive dman and a Cup winner. The kind of player who gets used in crucial moments and against the best players. Always respected and appreacited by his team mates, coaches and owners.

Some people here seem to hate him, others appreciate him. Some even made him their own special whipping boy, somebody to blame when they can't explain what happened.

Conclusions? Well, it's not for me to judge, it's pretty obvious.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if he plays in Swedish Olympic team.

Why dont' start hating the entire team because they like and respect Wallin on the ice? (Something has to be very wrong with them, they can't be serious, loosers?)

Funny post.

Wallin was never the dman that DW thought that he was. He made continuous mental errors backed up by terrible defensive coverage and slow foot speed. Sure he was physical, but even then it wasn't that great. This years playoffs was the only time that i could honestly say that he played decently and even then he still would make 2 or 3 mistakes that would piss me off; Turnovers that lead to goals, unnecessary icing when there was plenty of time to make a good breakout pass, bad coverage during the PK etc etc.

What perplexes me the most is why so defensive?

^^^^ Wallin's brother, either that or a Lulea fan trying to pump himself up about the signing

A team with Kronwall, Ohlund, Enstrom, Edler, Tallinder, Murray, Hedman, and many future swedish defenseman will have room for a will-be 39 years old defenseman like Wallin?

Way to show your Swedish bias there. Obviously you haven't seen Wallin play. Put out in crucial situations...really?

Europeans and Carolina fans. Wallin is what he is. A physical bottom pairing defenseman that for some reason, GMs lose their mind around. Carolina fans weren't happy JR gave him a NTC, obviously you Shark fans weren't happy with DW giving him 2.5 mil. Blame the GMs, not the player.
