Kreider is staying at BC (Won't change mind. Summer school)
Quote:
Boston College sophomores Brian Dumoulin and Chris Kreider will return to Boston College for the 2011-12 season, according to BC head coach Jerry York.
Quote:
"We're very excited that both Brian Dumoulin and Chris Kreider have decided to return to Boston College for their junior seasons," York said. "Both players have had very impressive freshman and sophomore seasons and we expect both to be leaders of our club in 2011-12. Brian and Chris embody what we strive for in a Boston College hockey player. They're interested in education and active in the community and we're very pleased that each will be back as juniors."
My train of thought is if Kreider is set on making his career in the NHL is primary goal in life, he'll sign now when the Rangers offer him a contract.
You can respect him for wanting to get more education, definitely, but frankly i'm not a huge fan of our first round picks not signing with us when the organization has made it blatantly clear they want him.
You have got to be ****ing kidding me. What a ****ing joke.

Not surprising, everything you read about Kreider going to BC means a lot to him and his family. Rangers were trying to get him to leave school last year.
It's mind-boggling if he really does go back to BC. You have to think he's not dumb enough not to see the successes and chances guys like Ryan McDonagh and Stepan have been given this year.
Very disheartening to us who want and expect Chris to be a big piece of this franchise's future.
So much overreaction. Let him stay at BC, he'll get top 6 minutes, and be a more important part of the team, this is certainly not a bad thing.
It's a bad thing. Absolutely a bad thing. He needs to work on his pro game and not *****foot around on a college team that couldn't give less of a **** about his personal development.
It's frustrating reading things like Jaden Schwartz might not return for his sophomore year at CC, yet our prized prospect decides to take the unorthodox route and spend 3 years at BC. A guy like McDonagh went back for his junior year because he hadn't been developing as planned. Kreider is ready for the AHL, for christs sake he was playing WC last year.
Saw this coming. I'm disappointed, but Kreider staying for another year is not nearly as bad as some of you are making it out to be. A year where he is the go to guy on his BC team, getting top minutes might be beneficial to his development, and it definately won't hurt it. What if Hagelin had signed last year, and not had this monster season? Gordie believes that dominating at one level before you progress to the next is how it should be done, and so do I.
That said, I'm still ****ing pissed because I want to watch him regularly, whether it be in the AHL/NHL and I will have to wait another year to do it. But, he is still a kid and should be doing what his heart is telling him to do, which is obviously stay in college.
Stupid. Stepan needs to give him a call. Education is important, but his career is hockey. At the end of his career he'll have plenty of money and time to go back to school if he wants to go into another career. So foolish to waste his youth when he could be adapting to the NHL... and getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to do so.
He has no choice but to say he's returning, because the Rangers have not yet pursued him.
He has no offer on the table from the Rangers, his only option at this point in time is to assume and act as if he's returning to BC.
That said, if the Rangers make him an offer, and he still goes back to BC, its a bad decision.
The Rangers can offer him top six minutes at the NHL level next season, playing along side their top players.
BC is not winning **** next season.
Whereas the Rangers are a playoff contender, with the chance to be more.
If the real reason he returns is because he wants the education, I can't fault him for that. Nobody can. A pro athlete's career is fleeting. A Bachelor's degree can help him pursue a career after his hockey career is over.
The Rangers need to be the ones to initiate talks with Kreider about going Pro. Kreider can't call Sather and ask for a contract.
kid is into academics, I am in the minority here but I think he needs another year. no need to rush him
Mouth, I think it was you who when you met Krieder asked a question about how he felt being a Rangers pick. Could you confirm that and tell us what he said when you asked him that question.
I'm NOT trying to stir the pot, just wondering from people who've spoken to him what his thoughts on being a New York Ranger are.
The Rangers have yet to open talks with Boston College sophomore winger Chris Kreider about leaving school to turn pro, sources have told The Post.
Beyond that, an individual close to Kreider told The Post yesterday that the club's 2009 first-round Entry Draft selection is currently planning to return to BC for his junior season.
The Blueshirts, who did attempt to entice Kreider to turn pro last summer, are expected to make another effort once the school year ends. Management believes that the 19th overall selection in 2009 would need to serve an apprenticeship in the AHL, but a strong training camp could certainly cause a shift in that perspective.
School year hasn't ended yet. Rangers haven't an offer yet. If the Rangers haven't made an offer, where else is Kreider going? Stay in school. Rangers didn't make Stepan an offer until late May.
I'm okay with this.... I don't think he had any shot whatsoever at making the Rangers out of camp... He has not been a dominant player on any consistent basis at the NCAA level yet, he's certainly not ready for NHL or maybe even AHL... Let's hope he has a big year at BC....
