Hes been talking to teams with the 7 8 9 10 picks about a swap.

No updates on any RFA's.

Would probably resign Boyce and Brent if they want back on a good contract but nothing has been started.

I doubt he has talked to Boston about the 9th pick for obvious reasons.

Winnipeg is not going to give up 7.

Columbus at 8th or the Wild at 10th may be interesting trade partners.

If Burke could acquire the 8th or 10th, I think he may be able to move into the top 5.

Our 3 picks, 25th, 29/30th, 39th for 8/10th overall.

Then the 8th/10th overall plus whatever it takes for a top 5 pick (Landeskog, Huberdeau, or Corturier).

OR draft Ryan Strome!

If you had the 8th or 10th overall pick, would you trade it for 2 first round picks at the bottom of the first round, and a 2nd round pick?

I extremely doubt that.

Those picks would get the Leafs into a 15-19 range, if they were lucky.

Zibanejad would be great. Probably be available at 10

No matter what we do I still hope we are drafting twice in the 1st RD and don't get too trade hungry.

Exactly. There's no way in Hell that Burke is going to be able to move up into the Top 10 without seriously gutting what little legitimate talent there is in the Leafs' system.

Or just acquiring another 1st round around the 20th spot.

20th + 29th + late pick could get us to 10ish.

We can then use the 25 or 39 to move up even more, possibly into the top 5.

This is the exact kind of thing I'm afraid of us doing. Most scouts are on record saying this draft doesn't plateau until 12-15. Getting into the Top 15 is more then enough. No reason to chuck out three legitimate, strong picks to get a guy at 5 who might not be much different than the guy at 10.

It still baffles me how people on here value one guy at #8-10 over three guys at #25-#39.

Guys like Jenner/Puempel/Jurco, etc have just as much chance to be top 3 forwards as Strome/Zibenajad/Bartschi. There may be a very slight edge at this point, but its impossible to tell how they will develop IMO.

whats the cost difference to get into the top 15 from 5-10 where going to be paying pretty high regardless if Burkes moving up its to target a player. He will spend what is makes sense to acquire that player.

I wouldn't mind it if we get Strome. He reminds me of Taylor hall and has superb skills in every category of the game.

Tell that to Schenn or Bailey, when we traded up in the draft.... I'm not trying to disagree with you, but come on.

In 2006
8= Peter Mueller
for
25=Patrik Berglund
29=Chris Summers
39= Andreas Nodl

Would you?

You're arguing with Brian Burke, not people here. They didnt force him to say that.
