Is it fitting that Stapleton scored the last goal in Atlanta Thrasher history?
So, I've been depressed lately about the boys leaving and I was looking over the "highlights" of the past couple seasons. The highs were pretty simple: the innate exhuberance and hope from the winning streak in November/December of 2010against the best teams in the league, the Kane knockout, and the Boulton hat-trick. It was the last that left me feeling the best, because the truth has come out and Boulton loves Atlanta.
However, the last game in Atlanta Thrashers history was difficult for me. Symbolic of our team, they got up early, but lost big. Yet, I am embarrassed by this game for one reason: I was happy that we lost. I never imagined that it may be the last game in Atlanta history and the loss got us a higher spot in the draft. Now, I'm embarrassed and disgusted with myself.
Also, I've been thinking about the last goal. Stapleton scored a kind of pretty, meaningless goal. Stapleton has grown on me over the season, but, at best, he is an under-talented, small fan favorite. Is such a goal by such a player indicative of what was the Atlanta Thrashers?
The last goal was scored at 1:41 in the video. (Can somebody help me embed it?)
