I read somewhere that the Oilers tried to get him back at the tradedeadline.
I can see him coming back now with the song "Welcome Back Kotter" blasting in the background!

Ya, when you think of it ... there were very few Carter sweaters in the crowd when he was here.

Why would anyone want Carter back? He has a lot of talent and I honestly think he could be a consistent 30 goal scorer if he wanted to, but he doesn't. He only played when he felt like playing the last time he was here so why would it be different this time. He's too worried about his life in Hollywood and making his Hollywood connections than playing hockey anymore.

i recall Carter playing down the middle on several occasions in his days in Beantown.
assuming the Oilers were to sign both Nedved and Carter, have both players at center, have York and Smyth on the left side, and Dvorak and Hemsky down the right wing, Edmonton would feature a very decent top six.

i'd think Anson would consider signing a contract paying just short of the $2 million mark, maybe in the $1.7-1.9 million range?

Yeah, that's making some sense.

I see Raffi Torres in the bottom 6 at this moment anyways.

I like the sounds of that

Carter played down the middle here for a while too, what a nightmare! Maybe on a trapping team or a LW lock team he could do it.

No way in hedes that MacTavish runs with Carter and Nedved as the top two guys down the middle IMO. A GAA from hell if he does that.

If for some strange reason, Lowe were to sign both Carter and Nedved, I would assume York would stay at center and Carter would be put on RW. My guess would be a lineup looking something like this:

Smyth - York - Carter
Torres - Nedved - Dvorak
Moreau - Reasoner - Hemsky/Pisani
Isbister - Horcoff - Pisani/Hemsky

Not to mention the fact that we'd have 15 forwards (Laraque, Stoll, Rita)
