For 5 mil + you'd hope that Bryz would be able to outright steal a game, but he hasn't shown that in awhile. He also has a tendency to let in deflating soft goals. But adding him makes you guys the instant cup favorites, for sure. Assuming no scoring depth is really lost.
I think you guys will love him. Just to clarify again; I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Bryz with regards to the room. If anything, he's a total character and keeps things light with his humor. Doan recently said that he will miss Bryz a lot and that he is 'a very special goalie.' Coyote fans are in that weird place where your goalie is amazing in the regular season but has given you heartbreaking trouble in the playoffs. You would hate to see him go, but you also wouldn't exactly be sad if there was a change. I imagine that is how Canuck fans feel right about now too.
Try not to embarrass the rest of the East too much
I get you're not trying to make trouble, but how are we favorites in the East if he lets in soft, deflating goals and can't steal a game? That sounds like nearly every other goalie in the league.
"-Stupid Flyers, always cheaping out on goalies
-Yeah, you have good depth, but its pointless, you ought to shed some of that for a goalie
-Flyers will never get themselves a top 10 goalie, they will keep going for backups
-Flyers should go after Vokoun or Bryzgalov...wait what am I saying? They'd never do that, they are great goalies who need to get paid"
Before Rumors
"-Bryzgalov wants the moon, he wants to be paid more than any other player
-Bryz wants more than any other goalie
-Good luck signing him, Carter is as good as gone"
After rumors
"-6 Million? For that washed up goalie? He's horrible in the playoffs. Leighton 2.0
-Can't wait until you sign that 6 million goalie, who isn't worth half, then lose all that depth you worked so hard to get
-Lol Carter is gone, you better trade him cheaply, you need to shed capspace"
Its the same when players are hated/considered overrated, then suddenly they get traded to a new team and that team goes bat **** over them. Suddenly discussing what a great player they've always been (opposite in this case). The bulk of HFBoards has a very unstable opinion that is easily swayed. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
HFBoards is built on the premise that people want to know what they're talking about. So more important that being right, is appearing to be right.
How do you appear to be right?
Agree with the first thing you see or the thing that "benefits" your team the most to agree with and be willing to fight to the death over it.
no matter what happens people arent going to be happy. Bryzgalov is a very good goalie. Bobrovsky could be a very good goalie down the line. I would rather go with what we know especially with our window closing to win with this group.

Yeah, of those 15 shutouts over the last two years, none were really anything special. He really hasn't been that good.

Flyers are in no position to talk **** about the Coyotes D. This is the same team that managed to allow Jason Labarbera to have a .928 sv % over 17 games. I'm not trying to diminish what Bryz has done, but the team in front of him wasn't exactly bad. Don Maloney seems to agree with me.

An even more interesting tweet...

09-10 was also the year the Flyers went to the Stanley Cup finals and the Coyotes lost in the 1st round.

The Flyers defense allowed Michael Leighton to 2.48 GA and a .918 SV%, and the year after, Brian Boucher to a 2.42 GA and a .916 SV%
BTW, that same Coyotes defense got Labarbera to a 3.26 GA and a .909 SV% this season.

And then a year later put Jason in a position to jump from 2.13 GAA to 3.26 and from 0.928 sv% to 0.909? He played 17 games in both years, similar schedules. Both teams made the playoffs.
Your argument is sketchy at best.
As for Phoenix pulling 107 the year Philly had 88...that Philly team would've destroyed the 'Yotes in the playoffs. Don't think because we walked in as an 8th seed that we were a joke. The joke was pretty much on everyone who thought we were a legitimate 8th seed.
I offer you Bryzgalov's "Sovetskiy Sport" interview after his visit to Phila. As always, I tried to keep it as close to the original style as possible.
BRYZGALOV: “I LIKED PHILADELPHIA”
The “Sovetskiy Sport” correspondent phoned Bryzgalov last night.
Q: You were invited to Philadelphia by Paul Holmgren after Flyers had bought out your rights, were not you?
A: That’s correct. I was invited by the whole Philadelphia Flyers organization. My wife and I flew over there for a few days. I visited a training facility and the major arena. It was an introductory visit.
Q: Why did you decide to do defer negotiations till the next week? What is the main question- the length of the contract or the financial aspect?
A: I do not want to comment on it now.
Q: But the Flyers will lose your rights after July, 1.
A: We have plenty of time.
Q: Why did you decide to start a Tweeter account?
A: My Phoenix friend, Paul Bissonet, always urged me: Bryz, you’ve got to start tweeting.” I would respond: “Why would I do that?” And he would say: “All my followers and fans are asking when you finally will get an account. They want to communicate with you, know your thoughts.” I had been refusing, but than decided to start.
Q: You are starting a new life
A: Perhaps- laughs Iliya- It’s just easier to express yourself via Tweeter. You, journalists, like to paraphrase things, change stuff to your liking. I will be able to express my thoughts more precisely if something was not clear in the interview.
Q: Where you surprised that you you’ve got more than 4000 subscribers to your tweets?
A: Is it a lot or a little? I simply would not know.
Q: Just imaging having that many people gathered around your house at once waiting for your word.
A: Well, I am flattered than.
Q: Will you have patience to maintain your blog?
A: I think so. I will update it as able.
Q: After you suggested adding a new item in the popular Philadelphia restaurant- “phillycheesbryz”, one can assume you liked Philadelphia.
A: Yes, I did like the city and the people who work at the club. I am happy with everything….
Q: Will your sign a contract soon?
A: I would not jump to conclusions yet. Life will tell.

I wasn't really cracking on the Coyotes D, I was just saying that you don't get 15 shutouts and post the numbers Bryz posted over the last two seasons without stealing a game or two. A bunch of his shutouts he had over 30 saves, and plenty of 35+ and 40+ save outings that his team won. Now I'll be honest, I didn't see a lot of his games in Phoenix, but I'm willing to bet that over the last two years, with all his shutouts and low scoring high save outings, he stole a few games. Great defense or terrible defense, he's a good goalie any way you slice it.
