Wow...does that mean we take a 10M cap hit for him this year??? Damn....
No the cap hit is the average amount per year of the contract.

Nope, cap hit is average salary, so $5.66 mil per year. This is basically a 7 year contract, after that they can easily buy him out if necessary, or keep him if he's still good.

Ahh cool, seems like a pretty good contract then. I am glad they got this done.

$10m is pretty darn high, isn't that the highest in the league?

Flyer fans, remember that bryzgalov is a large reason why the coyotes made the playoffs two years in a row.

the coyotes are not exactly the best defesnive team or a really talented scoring machine.

That might be true, but in Philadelphia the expectations are cups, and I don't think this group of forwards has what it takes to do that

Thank Goodness it's not 7 years as previously reported...

Also, I was very close in my prediction - 5.5mil.

This contract is ****ing retarded.

Bryz will be a huge upgrade no matter what, but I am not convinced he's good enough to warrant this ******** contract.

Completely fine with this move. Bryzgalov is an incredible goalie who has AT LEAST 5 or 6 solid years left, no reason to get rid of Bobrovsky. All that happens is half way through the 9 year deal their roles switch. Blah blah cap expensive blah blah who cares... Welcome to the new core, Bryzgalov.

It'll be less awesome if he ages poorly.

I'm with you, sometimes you've gotta roll the dice. Although I'm not totally ok with all of todays moves this is really more of a 6-7 year front loaded deal with a reasonably low percentage hit. Like another poster said 7 for 49 would have been the real disaster. Bryz doesn't have a ton of miles on his frame and you really can't prevent injuries, just prepare for them. Great job by Homer, took a little sting out of trading the guy the organization compared to Clarke.

Wouldn't worry even if they investigated. We're talking about a league that's still looking for a puck that Chris Pronger shoved up Michael Leighton's arse immediately after game 6 of the 2010 finals.

I'm not worried about the 9-year contract. The team obviously has the balls to get rid of someone when it's their time to go. Give me 5-6 good years and then we'll go from there.

Just a reminder (someone had asked): the Flyers no longer maintain Pittsburgh's 3rd round pick in the 2011 Draft. That was the pick acquired in the Dan Hamhuis deal. The pick now belongs to Phoenix as part of the Bryzgalov deal. It is the 84th selection.
