One thing I've noticed on twitter is that accounts are created by hot-topic people (don't want to call them celebrities, but they're grouped into what I'm trying to say) when something just happened, or is about to happen. Charlie Sheen, Bron-Bron, Plaxico Burress, Michael Vick, Conan O'Brien, Tiger Woods...

It can, but the Flyers have to clear tagging space. You can't go over the cap for next season until July 1 (when you can go 10% over).

Oh right, I'm just saying that Homer will likely know how much cap he has to clear before the cap is officially released.

I just hope that whatever Homer does for cap space gives us more than just the space.

Flyer's beatwriter Sam Carchidi was just on Comcast Sportsnet an hour ago. He said an inside source high up in the Flyers org told him a deal is in place. He believes it will be for $5.5M. It's a verbal agreement that they will anounce formally on July 1 when then can exceed the cap.

After reading all his Twitter posts, it seems like he is here. Someone Tweeted something to him saying like, "sign in Philly soon!" or something to that affect, and his response was something like "very soon!" I hope that's really him and not just some jokester. I know that some people have "confirmed" that it is him, but there have been plenty of Twitter pranksters over the last few years.

And whether he's 'responsible' is your opinion only, and you are wrong.

He tried to upgrade the goaltending last year, without breaking up the core of team. He got advance rights to negotiate with Nabokov and Turco but they failed to realize what a good offer the Flyers were making and screwed themselves. Faced with a bunch of nobodies like Mason or Ellis he stuck with Leighton and signed Bobrovsky.

His priority last year was to get rid of Gagne and add a 5th great Dman - because what really cost us the Cup was that our Top 4 was too run down by the finals.

To do so, he acquired the rights to Hamhuis, tried to get the advance rights to Michalek (Phx was still hoping to re-up him), and acquired Meszaros in what was one of the best trades of the year in the entire league, and signed O'Donnell cheap when everyone said he would never leave the west coast.

Pronger and Timonen aren't getting younger, and even Briere had nothing left by the Boston series. The Flyers can't afford to look to the future anymore.

They will sign Bryzgalov - after boldly getting his right. And everyone will be amazed at the reasonable cap hit, after which he'll sort out how he wants the team to look in front of him and make the appropriate deals at the draft.

That's what a responsible GM does and we're lucky we have one - we're going to be cheering for a great team, and Cup contender, again next year.
I am howling at this, especially the Hartnell part. Overpaid AND gave him a NTC! Briere's contract is an albatross and the only thing that's made it bearable is the fact that the cap increased every year since the lockout.

Oh and I guess everyone is entitled to an opinion but if Larry deems it to be wrong, well then it's wrong. Kind of like a petulant child that takes the ball home when he's in a sulk.

Fellas, time to breathe a sigh of relief, Bryzgalov is a Flyer. The goalie carousel is over.

Cue the rest of HF proclaiming that hell has frozen over.

Of course then they'll say "but you have less depth! Bwahaha!"

The Howard Stern fan in me just thought, "What if it was Captain Janks?", lol.

5.5 cap hit seems ideal if Carchidi is right.

Two words "nice".....5.5M is what I expected on the low end. 5.8M at the higher....6M at the Holmgren end
