Head Scout Marcel Comeau to direct the Winnipeg NHL Team draft contingent
Marcel Comeau, Atlanta Thrashers head scout since 2003, will be running the Winnipeg NHL Team draft next week. Since True North relieved General Manager Rick Dudley and Director of Amateur Scouting and Player Development Dan Marr of their duties, there was some question who would be running things. It seems we have an answer care of the Winnipeg Free Press (http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/spo...123983754.html).
This makes sense. It's not really a shock since he is the most tuned in to the scouting work they've done all year. It's far too late in the process to start from scratch. The being said, Chevy will ultimately be the one making the pick based on the identity of the team they're trying to create. Comeau will construct the "big board" but at the end of the day Chevy will pull the trigger.
Don't mean to be a wet blanket but on what basis do we know Comeau was a bright spot? We only drafted two or three guys out of Europe worth anything (Pavelec and Enstrom and maybe Klingberg). Is it confirmed he was responsible for them rather than our dedicated Euro scouts?
