You can claim all you want, but the fact of the matter is NO ONE wanted to own the team in Atlanta anymore. I am quite frankly tired of the argument that Atlanta got screwed. NO ONE WANTED TO OWN THE TEAM ANYMORE IN ATLANTA.
Contrary to what anyone says.
All you hear is BS rumors which are completely debunked. You can claim you were screwed but the fact of the matter is no one wanted to own the team in Atlanta anymore. Yes I agree and understand it sucks to lose your team, but no one wanted to own it anymore there.
I don't see the city of Atlanta offering to cover losses? Hence the reason why Phoenix is staying. Phoenix has a government willing to keep the team, Atlanta does not have anybody willing to.
Maybe you should blame the mayor for not stepping up if the team was as important as you say it was.
No one is arguing that there are hockey fans in Atlanta.
and the earth is flat. Simplistic, blinders, uneducated on the subject.
And I bet it's peeps like that that enjoyed their evening in the Vancouver streets. Nice.
Bettman also gets the boo treatment in NJ because of the summer of Kovalchuk, last summer...
It runs much, much deeper than that.
Bettman was booed mercilessly during the 1995 SCF at the Meadowlands, as there was a distinct possibility the Devils were going to be moved to Nashville for the 1995-96 season. Come to think of it, Jersey fans may lay claim to being the first "Bettman bashers".
Bettman gets booed because he's a greasy little rat. Doesn't everyone hates this guy? I don't think they had a particular reason. Just didn't like the officiating/discipline of the playoffs. Winnipeg/Atlanta was the last thing on their minds I'm sure.
