Yannick, if you happen to fall on this, don't stop working!
You've got great upside and it will show up with great work ethic and by continually working to develop your game.
There, I feel better.
Yep And remember to give Neofury a shout out too

i do believe weber will be a Solid NHLer one day agree with you 100% i just feel with PK,Gorges,Markov,Yemelin And the management signing Diaz plus having a couple prospects who will be ready in 2/3years PG will try to use Weber to get some needed assets,Maybe move up in the draft or getting an NHL player who can help now but for some reason i just see Weber getting traded but thats just my opinion lol
I think the Habs will resign Weber and keep him. In my opinion it is foolish to trade a player like him, because he is more valuable to us than any assets we could possibly get in return for him (second round pick).
If PG is good with asset management, he will not deal one of our top young prospects. And from what he has shown, he has been very good with asset management. Weber will stay.

I second that. Plus Gauthier made a point of talking about the necessity to get younger on defense and I think Weber is an integral part of that.
Super smart not re-signing the Wiz. One of Weber/Subban can take his place on the PP next to Markov, we need that dough to give big bucks to Price and Subban.
No news about Markov nor Wiz, nor Hamrlik, nor Mara or Sopel...
Habs re-sign Gill...;
Habs sign Yemelin and Diaz;
They have Spacek, Subban and Gorges under contract;
And now they are about to re-sign Weber.
I am expecting the worse: no Markov or Wiz next season in Montreal.
Hamrlik might still be the only vet re-signing.
I would count Spacek out. I don't know how Gauthier thinks we can compete with him in the lineup. We need to improve, not regress.
I think Diaz will have to play one year with the Bulldogs to learn the north american style. And Weber is a perfect fit for 7th D until next year when Gill will be gone or in case of injuries. I would see something like this next year :

Don't count him out. At 3,9 million. he's gonna play.
I love Weber, this guy has great spirit and I think he grew alot last year just like Price did 1 year ago. IMO, we can expect him to have a great season as 1 of our main 6 Dman this year.
Markov - Gorges
Gill - Subban
Yemelin - Weber
Spacek

Spacek ain't that bad on a bottom pairing, on his natural left side, playing 16-19 min. a game no more.
Only one more year to go. Let's be patient.
Why? It's not like he's getting paid 7.3M per year. Being patient is like accepting that we don't want to improve next year. I think we are a few steps from being among potential contenders and getting rid of Spacek AND replacing him by a better, solid, grittier player is one of them.

There's nothing wrong with Spacek. Make him play on the left and hopefully limit his ice time to around 17min. Having a guy like him on a bottom pairing shows great depth, not problems.
If you want to trade him, then okay, but there's no point in buying him out. That would be dumb.
This kid has good potential and is willing to battle for the puck and to improve the physical aspect of his game. He made huge efforts in that department last season and will be a good one in a day not that far away.

Take a deep breath man. It's not the end of the world.
I remember this time last year when Habs fans on here were all in a fluster over Plekanec's impending free agency. Then he signed.
Then people were all in a fluster because the Habs signed Pouliot, Pyatt and Lapierre before re-signing Carey Price. Then Price signed.
The reason why the smaller signings (Gill, Darche, AKost) tend to happen before bigger signings is because they tend to be for a shorter term, with less money involved and less moving parts like NTC's.

People were getting upset that Pouliot didn't get tendered a QO until the last minute.
It boggles my mind to see everyone leaving Spacek as the 7th defenseman in their lineups. Spacek WILL play with the Habs in the top-6 and will most likely not be dealt. He is actually a very good defender when he plays on the left side, which for the majority of his career with the Habs, he hasn't.
I feel many posters just want the flashier names and more exciting players, but Spacek is a very solid D. He will most likely play on the bottom pairing, however.

He makes close to $4M and brings absolutely nothing to the team offensively. The kicker is he was brought here for offense. I would absolutely trade him if it meant I could sign a better, younger, D-man. I'd rather have Wiz or a player of his caliber over Spacek.
