Jesus Christ. He had as much to do with that as Fleury and he didn't even play! With that all-world D in front of him and all those world-class 2 way forwards, winning was the only option and anything less would have been an utter failure.

Luongo would melt in Montreal. Price is better suited for Montreal, is much younger, currently cheaper, and yes, better.

Your theory is Luongo cannot handle the pressure of an angered Vancouver fanbase. So your solution is to ship him off to the most scrutinizing, antagonistic, love/hate fanbase in the entire league? If he could not survive Vancouver, in what world do you possibly believe he could handle Montreal? He would be an utter mess in this city. As for talent level... yeah, no. Honestly...

Alright, throw in your 1st round pick for the next 100 years. Also Price becomes UFA at season's end.

Price will be the first ever 24 year old to become UFA. Another Montreal record !

If Luongo is mentally weak in Vancouver, what makes you think he'll fare any better in the loudest North American sports arena and most storied franchise in hockey?

The temptation to trade guys to thier home towns is always a distraction, when formulating trade posts. I always want to ship Schnieder to Boston, but I think they have goaltending pretty well covered.

Luongo might have suitors, but are any acceptable to him? Ottawa is near Montreal and is less of a national focus, just to give an example.

In the real world, Luongo is untradeable. The Aquilinis only recently signed him to a lifetime contract. They will not abandon him. They are his buddies.

Next season Vancouver will feature Schnieder and Luongo, perhaps in that order.

I'm curious what MTL and VAN fans would think of this? They both play in fishbowls.
Montreal be crazy to do this trade....Price is like 8 years younger and way cheaper than Luongo.

Can anyone imagine Luongo handling the pressure in Montreal?

Seriously, does a single poster here believe he could do it?

I wouldn't have done this last year, when I wasn't totally opposed to trading Price.

Price can win us a cup in his career, with a decent supporting cast.

No thanks, close thread.

Luongo seems to be better in low pressure environments. And Montreal treats Price like royalty now since this past season. I really don't see Montreal trading him for Luongo or anyone for that matter.

So you want to take Luongo out of a pressure filled environment and throw him in... Montreal? Lol

And if I'm the Habs, I don't touch this. Price is younger and better than Luongo IMO.

At this point in time, Price has proved he has matured and has demonstrated poise in Montreal. Montreal is a pressure cooker and when you find a goalie that can have success there, you hang on to them for as long as possible. Price has had success and has public mentioned that he needed his act together and does enjoy playing for this team. If Lou can't handle Vancouver, he wont be able to handle Montreal. Add in salaries and Vancouver would have to add something substantial for Montreal to even start listening.

Ask Boston fans which goalie scared them more.

UFA? I think he's still RFA after next year.
