Malkin training harder than ever?

Bylsma recently went on 93.7, and one of the main things he talked about was Malkin's progress so far this offseason.

Judging by the Geno interviews from this summer, he seems more determined than ever to bounce back. Could we see Malkin return to his former superstar, 40+ goal scoring, self?

keep it up evgeni

If Geno returns to 08' form and our team stays relatively healthy, we win the Presidents trophy. Book it.

If Geno wants to do it...Geno is going to do it

He's that good.

It really is that simple. With a better PP, a full time linemate in Neal, and a more physically fit geno, a 130 pt season wouldn't surprise me.

There's another trophy I'd rather win.

If Geno is back to 2008-09 form, I feel very confident in our chances of at least reaching the Finals.

And a healthy/motivated Geno (with a legit winger in Neal) + a healthy Sid + our defensive corps makes me feel very confident against any team in the league.

I just want a healthy team going into the playoffs. A healthy Crosby or Malkin would've gotten us past Tampa this year. Having both makes a serious contender.

It'd surprise me but I get your point (he could have a big year).

It is good to hear from various sources that he is working harder this summer. Seems like sometimes a major injury on a young player makes the refocus on their training for the better.

Imagine in the same season an 2008 Malkin and a 2010 Crosby..... Crosby perhaps sniffs 60 goals, Malkin 50?

Crosby 60G 80A
MAlkin 50G 60A
Neal 25G 30A
Kunitz 25G 25A
Staal 28G 38A
Letang 10G 50A

I've said it before, and I'm not sure I still believe it, but I think he could score 2ppg for an entire season at some point. He's unbelievable.

Jagr would not score 45 goals, i'll peg him at 30. I doubt he even comes to the NHL.

Malkin and Sid could score Lemieux-Jagr like points in their primes. Nowadays that basically means max 120-140 points for both. That would basically mean that Pens would be at least a Stanley cup contender, probably a Cup favorite.

IF IF IF healthy, Pens will be #1 team in this league, I have no doubts about that.

If Crosby can return to the form he had before his injury and Malkin to his 08 performances, then my god it'll be fun.

A focused Malkin is a dangerous Malkin.

Malkin was in total beast mode in 2008-09. Ill never forget that game against Tampa we were down 3-0 and he dominated the rest of the game and led us to the come back win. If he can get back to that type of dominating play/ leadership we will be in great shape.

Haha. Jagr coming back at all is a long shot. Jagr coming in at 40 and being a 110 point player. Uhh, ok?

I think Jagr would be a 70+ point guy on this team, easily. Anything north of 80 points would be a bit of a stretch though. Who knows?

IDK. Sure it sounds like a great thing, but what's the implication here? That he didn't work hard or didn't care much the past 2 years?
