His 2nd season was very misleading because of all our injuries. Seidenberg and Leopold both missed 20games and Kulikov missed 15games. With Ballard playing in all 82 he benefitted from more playing time in those 20games which boosted his stats a bit. And 1/3 of his pts came on the PP from taking J-bo's spot there.
don't you reward player's playing good with pp time? cuz that's what we do here in Van city and Ballard was getting none. lol

We do but we couldn't put McCabe out there for the whole 2min on every PP!

I think a deal that Vancouver could realistically offer would be:

To Vancouver: David Booth
To Florida: Jordan Schroeder, Yann Sauve, 1st rounder

Similar to what Ballard got, would that be enough for Booth?

I'd love to get Shroeder but this isn't enough to get Booth. Remember Vancouver's 1st is almost like a 2nd. It will take 2 high end prospects+that late 1st or if you want to do Raymond it will likely have to be Hodgson+Shroeder added to that and Florida sends back a 3rd or 4th rd pick along with Booth.

How about this:
to FLA:
Hodgson
Shroeder
Raymond
2011 1st rd pick(almost a high 2nd)

to Van:
Booth
Repik
2011 3rd rd pick(almost a low 2nd)

How about this you left out a few

Florida Panthers get:
Roberto Luongo
Cody Hodgson
Jordan Shroeder

Vancouver Canucks get:
David Booth
Jacob Markstrom
2011 Florida 1st round (3rd overall)

so let me get this straight... florida gives up the two best assets of our organization plus the guy who currently IS the face of the franchise for that? I mean, yea we all love luo but not at the expense of markstrom. the 3rd overall will give us a better prospect than both hodgeson and shroeder are. booth is a fan favorite and I am confident he'll be able to bounce back and produce next season (even though he was our top goal scorer this season...).

tallon wouldnt touch that proposal

Hodgson + 2012 1st?

As much as I love Booth, I think this would be a great deal for both teams. Booth played all 82 games this season and I think we can expect him going back to the 60 point mark this year. If he can improve his accuracy then he would score a lot more goals last season. I think we'll see the good old Booth coming back next season.

Hodgson is a very good prospect, I'm not sure how he would stack up against Couturier or Huberdeau, but I wouldn't say player picked at 3 clearly is better than Hodgson.
I don't think Tallon, or the owners want to take on a large contract $ wise to Luongo, especially when the owners care more about salary than cap hit.
Booth is tradeable, even though he showed signs in the second half that he was looking like his old self. However, I don't think Gillis would want to trade off a player of Hodgson's potential and cap hit, especially when they will be limited with cap room.

if raymond wasnt injured, i would center a package around him for booth

raymond, schroeder, 1st 2011 for booth, 2nd and 3rd in 2011

something like that i think would work...

i would then sign brooks laich as well, and trade ballard... 3rd line of laich, kesler, booth would be a pretty good 2nd line if you ask me

sedin sedin burrows
laich kesler booth
samuellson malholtra hansen
oreskovich lapierre torres/hodgson

I can see Vancouver doing this deal, I say they get rid of Hodgson, 1st, Shirokov and Rypien for him in next years deadline, just a little off topic but I see Weiss to Phoenix as well.

This I would strong consider and may be tempted to pull the trigger on. Perhaps if Florida was willing to take on a salary dump like Samuellson and we toss in another pick, it could work. I do hate losing Hodgson but if it fills a need, then we can talk.

Any proposal where we are giving up Shroeder, Hodgson, plus something else is a definite no.

I think the only issue with Weiss, is Weiss himself. He really wants to be here, coupled with his NTC, he holds the cards. There was a rumor around the TD that Weiss supposedly waived his NTC to one team, but, of course no deal went down.

Besides, Tallon would be foolish to trade him short of a crazy overpayment. His age, production, leadership and salary make him a very attractive piece to a slary limited team.

As for the deal for Booth, sold.

I don't see why the Canucks would want to give up Raymond for Booth. In my mind you'd want both players playing on Kesler's wing and have the fastest line in the league.

I like the look of that deal.

Canucks could even throw in Shirokov as well, he's got no value to the Nucks, but he could be a decent player if given the chance on a young team like Florida.

Booth - Kesler - Samuelsson/Raymond looks like an excellent 2nd line to me.
