Waiting to see what my boy Howie has up his sleeve next, but this does not feel good at all.
Still think we should give back Carter?

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Preaching to the choir here, file this under things we already know. I love Burns
#1 center was an immediate need, that has never changed.
You have no idea if Minnesota would even want Voracek.

You defended Howson for 4 years only to question him now? After he's made his best trade ever? and before the offseason really has begun?? That's surprising.

I wasn't supposed to say this but Samkow paid Viqsi to keep things interesting this summer.

don't know about the crap part, think he is a pretty good prospect but still a prospect

BUT importantly Burns has one only ONE year on his contract.

Why would you be surprised that a Howson supporter starts to question Howson when he doesn't act like prototypical Howson? At the end of the day she wanted help on defense. We haven't provided that yet. She would have like Burns more than Carter.

I wasn't surprised by her reaction, at all. Very legitimate and very consistent with what she has been saying for a while now. While I don't agree with her assessment of our center situation, I would have been happy with a slightly different package for Burns.

If it was August 31st, I might agree, but it's not, free agency is not even open yet, so any complaining doesn't really make sense right now. Do it after all the free agents are gone, not now. There's no rule that says Howson only can make 1 move. We all know he's not done.

I tend to agree with you. However, I certainly see her point. I'm not going to debate with her when I feel #1 center and #1 defensemen were equal needs in my book.

He took the deal that he had available to him. I'm happy he did it. I'm not going to look backwards and second guess the move.

All the more reason it would suck. I enjoyed the Hawks with that anchor when they already had a great 1/2.

Supposably Olesz going to Hawks has 3.125 mil for 3 more years.

So the Hawks took back a crappy contract in return? That makes me feel a bit better.

Yeah and Olesz is a downgrade to Campbell as far as puck mover.

I was concerned till I saw that Chicago has to get 7 players with only about 15 million in cap room. I don't think they'll be a potential bidder for the high-end defensemen.

God-****ing-damnit, now we're all going to get investigated by the NCAA. I hope you're happy.

For hitting my concerns and their reasons dead on the money, you get a cookie.

We're not yet to a crisis of faith, but I just saw most of part one of precisely what I was worried could happen actually happen. Part two is if we strike out in the free agency market.

All is not yet lost, but options are closing up fast.

Sorry, thats a horrible package. Its not like he was even our last chance to improve the D. Who knows if Minny would have even gone for that package. Coyle>>Atkinson. The prospect we have closest to Coyle amongst forwards is Johansen. Setoguchi is far more proven then Voracek at this point. Our 1st round pick was nicer, but doesn't cover the difference. All for what? Potentially one year of Burns? As opposed to a career contract at good numbers for an elite true #1 center? If Burns didn't re-sign with us, the 12-13 season would see still needing a defenseman but also without Voracek, a 1st rounder, and a prospect. I know how high you are on Burns, and I know your priorities are with the defense, but seriously. Howson made the right choice (if there was even a choice to be made.)

Agree. Even factoring in possibly re-signing Burns to a longer term deal and the initial reaction thing from Carter right now, it's still the better use of those assets.

apparently not done fleecing the team yet?

@NHLFlyers
Philadelphia Flyers #Flyers have traded center Darroll Powe to Minnesota in exchange for Minnesota’s 3rd round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
