I was just wondering since Sutter put Calgary in cap trouble who do you think the new Flames GM Feaster should add from this year free agent pool.

Who can they go after? They have no space. Re-sign Tanguay and endure the year. Next year is Calgary's big off-season.

None(not trolling...) they need to rebuild. I know they won't until Iginla retires, but it's much easier once you just get it started and start seeing some young talent

Trade all they can and rebuild. They got nothing in the pipeline. If they sign FA's they are doomed for a long time.

I think they will be very conservative and go with a roster very similar to their roster to close out last year and let the chips fall as they may, then next offseason they can re-evaluate when they have some flexibility.

I expect that the front office staff will determine what the next course of action will be based upon how this roster fares this year, whether they need a full on rebuild or if there is a better solution. Either way, I'm expecting a quiet offseason for the Flames.

Really, I would take a run at Leino and thats probably it. Any major moves will be done thru trades as another poster mentioned. Tanguay is the major priority.

None.

They need to rebuild and trade off their aging stars while they can still get max value for them.

Translated for easier reading
Tanguay-Richards-Iginla
J Jokinen-Morrison-Bourque
Glencross-O Jokinen-Moss
Kostopoulus-Backlund-Jackman

Bouwmeester-Regehr
Giordano-Babchuk
Carson-Sarich

Kiprusoff-Karlsson

and yes i know i am dreaming. it may not work with the cap
Who would take Langkow? He's making 5 mil, and just came back from some serious injuries. Stajans value is at an alltime low, and Hagman was placed on waivers, nobody wanted him.

My expected Lineup:

Tanguay-Backlund-Iginla
Glencross-Jokinen-Moss/Bourque
Hagman-Langkow-Moss/Bourque
Kostopoulos-Stajan-Jackman
Possible rookies to step in: Nemisz, Bouma

Regehr-Bouwmeester
Giordano-Sarich
Carson-Pardy
Possible rookies to step in: Pelech, Negrin, Brodie

Something along these lines. The team went roughly 27-11-9 after Sutter stepped down, so sticking with what we have is worth a shot for one more season, the following season, is when this team gains some flexibility.

Who would I like to see brought in? Talbot. I think he'd be amazing beside Jackman.

Feaster would be better served to try to move out some players before he moves any out. Bringing in dead space and giving NTC's to guys like Stajan and Kotalik has really screwed the Flames over. Now they need to live with those mistakes, unless they can get rid of those guys of course.

It's a moot point though. The Flames are not going to make a big move this off season. Next off season they will have all the cap space they want and all the bad contracts will be gone except Stajan. Stajan who will be making 2.5 milliion on a cap hit of 3.5 milliion will be a valuable player for teams looking to reach the cap floor.
