They still have to pay for their salaries. If a team's gonna pay someone 5M, might as well pay a good player 5M rather than Scott Gomez.

With the TV deal next year the Cap is going to skyrocket. Good news for a Flyers fan.

This is actually good news for the Islanders. Spending up to $48 million kind of forces Garth to overspend on players just to get to the floor. He may make another Wisniewski-like trade which would be good.

I just went on Cap Geek to see how much space a few teams have if the number is $64M, and I noticed that they have a list of the most popular buyouts over the last week and #1 was Luongo. Just thought that was funny.

Well it's good and bad. Good is we will have to increase budget by about 5M, bas is team ahead of us who are fighting the cap get an easy out

Looking at that upper cap number, it almost looks like the CBA a few years back was pointless(2 or 3 teams were over that amount, but that was the high end salary)

If they work it right, and the Bryz deal is in fact a $5M cap hit, maybe only a few hundred-thousand.

That's crazy, good summer to be a UFA. Expecting some ridiculous overpayments this off-season.

How much do you see Leino signing for?

Edit: Actually you are probably right.

From the Blackhawks perspective.. this is awesome

for one.. makes the cap hit in deals like Seabrook, Crawford, Keith, Toews, Kane look ridiculously good

can some team possibly stomach Campbell now -- probably not

but where it really helps is the depth

instead of rolling out Johnson, Stalberg, Pisani, Scott.. etc

we can go out and get those 1 mil and 1.5 million guys for the bottom lines that add depth the your team

You are definitely passed the edge of sanity if you think Richards is going to sign to be a 3rd line center.

Wang is saving money next year on the Okposo, Grabner, Moulson contracts. I doubt Tavares is reaching every bonus too. Hopefully we can get Comeau on a good 3 year deal too and then bring in a top 4 dman like Pitkanen.

Doug Janik is still in league?

I must have missed him I figured he had retired due to lack of talent

once the Hawks resign their guys, this will give them about 3.5 million to finally get that 2nd/3rd line center they need to go with Toews and Bolland

Don't think the 7th d is gonna matter with that defense and forward group
