if he doesn't sign with the habs, i just hope he won't go to pittsburgh. malkin - crosby jagr looks scary on pp.

the good news is, the pens are tight against the cap and they can't give him much more than 2m.

Pg to svoboda : "stop calling me, we dont have interest"

Svoboda to press :
"We spoke with few teams including the canadians and we need more time to weight in our options, i also communicate with few khl teams.."

I have a feeling we are once again just again we are just used to raise the value..

I agree...if anything I would think Jagr's agent is just driving up his price. He'll be a Penguin...makes too much sense unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong though

You mean battles...

Sometimes we may not win the battle to sign player x or y...lets say Briere for example but we avoided signing him for lets say a cap hit of 7.5 million...since it is said he turned down more money to go to Philly for less who at the time were a bottom placed team in the league table...

So sometimes we may lost a battle to sign a player but we may win the war because we avoided spending the higher money...

and money saved in an nhl with a strict salary cap system...enables you to wisely allocate it to lets say aging veteran like Spacek instead of the Wiz : )

Signing in Pittsburgh is the logic choice for him. At this time I think it's 70% Pitts, 20% Detroit and 10% Montreal. Hope I'm wrong though. I don't see why PG is not interested in him. We have a spot on the first line for him and we have the money for him. We need a better top 9.

How do you know PG isn't interested in him?

its part of the steps necessary to hate management:

1: we should sign that guy
2: how come he's not signed yet?
3: [player signs somewhere else for X dollars]
4: wtf man we could have signed that, we have the space

ergo, gm is stupid

Not my intention, let me rephrase it.

I don't see why PG would not be interested in him.

According to P-Mac, Pittsburgh's offer is anywhere between 1.3 to 1.5M$ for 1 year.
They won't budge.

I'd support Gauthier giving him up to 4.5-5M for one year! Why not?

I can't see how we woudn't be interested given our cap space and our need for a Top 6 forward. Either our team is cheaping out on us or Gauthier has serious plans this summer that no one see's coming.

I agree. Hes got money to spend and there are not so much interesting UFAs in the market. And it's a 1 year contract. Give mullet the money he wants.

As a Montreal fan I'd be willing to give him 2 mil on a one year contract or 3 mil over two years!

I'm a little uninformed with the Jagr situation. Is he a "bonus" to have in the line-up? Meaning, are there options elsewhere for what he brings? Or, is this someone we need to get.
