It says that he will most likely be a UFA and Florida wont need his services.

Pretty sad for Florida, but I'm sure they knew they weren't going to be able to keep him.

So who do you think Florida will take with the #1 overall pick in '12?

Does Markstrom step up as the #1 this year or is it Clememson (sp)?

Seems like a steal to me. Behind only Thomas for save percentage post lockout.

It doesn't say that at all.

Sucks for Florida, he was one of the few solid players on the team.

Really hoping Tampa signs him, or at least makes a serious offer.

I'm also hoping to finally see Markstrom get a decent number of starts in the big league.

I wonder if they might go after another goalie, though, as Markstrom and Clemmensen doesn't seem like a very solid tandem. I could see them overpaying for a guy like Smith or Leclaire, or maybe even Giguere if they want someone similar to Vokoun.

Gonna be interesting to see how much they'd pay one of those guys, though, with all their cap issues.

Vokoun is not a backup.

That is all Detroit needs in goal.

not sure why the panthers didnt try to move him last year unless he wouldnt waive his NTC.

Funny how things work out. Preds fans hated to lose him, especially the way it happened with the possible sale.... but if he hadnt been traded we wouldnt have Pekka Rinne, and I dont think there is a single Preds fan who would trade Rinne for Vokoun straight up right now.

Markstrom will spend at least 1/2 year in the AHL, but because of the injury he received previously it might be the whole year. He probably will be given a chance to show he can succeed as a starter in the NHL, but that STRICTLY determines who is in front of him. Clemmenson won't be the problem, it will be the stopgap we sign for the year.

We tried to move him, but with that caphit and the goalie market, no one bit hard for him. Of course no Predators fan would trade Rinne for Vokoun. His career is ending while Rinne's is just starting to shine.

I think Vokun would be a great fit in Tampa. I'm sure they know each other very well.

Here's hoping they don't rush Markstrom to the bigs. He's just not ready yet. Give him a full year to develop in the AHL, and hand him the reins in 2012-13. In the meantime, sign someone like Harding and go with him and Clemmensen.

I think Florida is gonna sign one of the following to fill their need in goal:
JS Giguere
Johan Hedberg
Jose Theodore
Josh Harding

Hedberg is signed through the 2011-12 season with New Jersey. Florida can't sign him.

Tampa going for him seems like a no-brainer to me really.

Unless he officially comes out and says he's just tired of Florida period.

Shame to lose Vokoun - Certainly the most stable thing that roster had going for it.... I could, however see the Panthers going after a guy like Viktor Fasth, they are clearly rebuilding their team from the ground up, why not have a pair of young guys (and Clemmer...) platooning the duties this year....

1. Fasth
2. Markstrom/Clemmenson

Could be really frightening duo in a year or two... Similar to what LA did with Quick & Bernier.

Or go after Cory Schneider or even Bernier for that matter.

IMO he was the only thing stopping them from being the worst team in the NHL. Nail Yakupov, I hope you like Florida.
