Lol. We would do this in a second (with parent). In fact, I'd rather give up this package than the OP.

That firsts basically a second round pick...

2012 1st if any draft pick.

probably works out better for vancouver too, seeing as they traded their first last year

I see Vancouver going on a deep run again next year. If anything that'd be the difference between 29 this year and maybe 20-30 next year. 29 this year could get Noesen, Brodin, Musil... I suppose I have a bit more faith in the quality of this year's draft.

And yes, I've liked Ryan Parent and I think he'd be okay to acquire. He has some value... And I think Rodin is currently a better prospect than Cody "Ow my back" Hodgson. More long term potential from the package I want than from 1 year of Samuelsson, a 2nd, and Hodgson (who is still arguably the best piece on the Vancouver side of the OP)

You seem to have a grasp on about 5% of the whole picture regarding the Stars' ownership situation.

And I think this works better for Vancouver as well, as they would rather keep Samuelsson then move him given his very affordable cap hit and the fact that they're in win now mode.

I don't see Vancouver being able to obtain Morrow, but given how valuable he would be to any playoff team, I think it would be worth the bounty to obtain him if you could get Dallas to listen, if they do want to get younger. Particularly whatever prospects or picks that are required that are not going to immediately make a difference towards a possible cup run this season.

I lik Parent as well but the Canucks are much deeper on the left hand side and Tanev as a RHD has already shown he fits in well with other players on the team.

I love the idea of a trade like this, Morrow would do wonders on the Canucks second line with Kesler.

Parent OR Tanev? LOL

That's the equivalent offering up a choice between Jamie Benn or Tom Wandell.

Wow. Vancouver jumps all over this.

... Tanev? Seriously, isn't he a bottom pairing D-man? I would lose it if GMJN ever made this trade.

If we're trading Morrow, I want Schroeder to be part of the package.

Would something like this be of any interest to the stars?

To Dallas:
Mikael Samuelsson (or Mason Raymond)
Cody Hodgson
2nd round pick

To Vancouver:
Brendan Morrow
Considering Dallas has to spend $10 MM to reach the cap floor they are most certainly NOT looking to cut payroll.

That's fine. I'm sure most Canuck fans would keep Tanev over Schroeder.

Same here. Wanted Dallas to take Schroeder when they had the chance, but they instead opted for Glennie. Neither kid's made the dance yet so the jury's out on that one, but it'd be nice to bring Schroeder in after the fact, and see how he does in Cedar Park next season, or maybe even during some limited callups if he's ready.

I think Schroeder could be moved, although I highly doubt Gillis would move both Rodin and Schroeder in the same deal, if that's the suggestion.

If it is Parent and not Tanev I'd part with that package. Hell I'd be willing to add another prospect (not named Hodgson/Schroeder/Connauton/Sauve)

I'll admit I'm very unfamiliar with the Dallas ownership situation, which is why I was hoping for input from Stars fans.

I think he'd consider moving 1st, Rodin and Schroeder in this type deal for Morrow but we would need some youth coming back in the form of a boom-or-bust type prospect (ie. Stefanovich) or like a 3rd round pick.

I would love to trade Morrow. The team isn't going to be particularly competitive next year, so we may as well start selling off the veterans. Morrow's coming off a career year, though. The Stars could probably trick a team into giving up a little more than what was offered in the original post.
