We're talking about the player, not the team.

Don't know why you have to resort to trolling when I say I'd rather have a guy who had 17 goals and 30 points in only 58 games and had 20 goals and 39 points 2 seasons before over a guy who had 32 points in a full season.

I have always firmly believed what sunk Bouwmeester's career is the incredible defensive approach Calgary utilizes. Why they do I'll never know when you consider who their players are but that is a topic for another time. In Florida, he played a more fast tempo game and was allowed to be an offensive threat, which he excels at. He is not the most sound defensively, thereby requiring someone to cover his blunders. On the Wings, he would be a completely different player, of that I am almost certain. Still not worth his contract though.

The problem is, unless Ehrhoff and Wisniewski resign with their respective teams. Why give up assets when either of them would fill the void easily for less money to boot?

The reason to give up assets
- ehrhoff will likely get 5.5 million for 5 years
- yes his cap hit is more, but, its for less term AND Jaybo is much better then Ehrhoff

would i want to give up our top prospect? no

would i give up hudler, kindl and a pick? yes

keep resorting to stats.

what good does moss bring to a team when he isn't getting a point? now tell me what helm brings to the table every single night.

David Moss is:
1) one of our best penalty killers
2) one of the few players on our team that has chemistry with Jokinen
3) one of the few players on our team that will go in front on the net on the powerplay
4) able to play in all situations in all ends of the ice

But do continue to tell me things you haven't a clue about, because your knowledge is obviously vast.

Edit: Aren't you the guy that said you'd take Lidstrom over Orr? I don't know why I even wasted my time posting.

I'm not claiming that Moss is leaps and bounds above Helm, but he is certainly better for the Flames. At the time he was injured was about the time the Flames began to fall back to Earth after a great stretch. I don't think it's a coincidence.

Yes, and you would deplete your entire farm attempting to acquire him. Bouwmeester would be a fraction of the cost asset wise.

Touche, if you could make a deal like this, then it is indeed a sound proposal. Personally, I believe Ehrhoff will take less than market value and resign with the Canucks along with Bieska. So neither would be an option. That would make Jaybo all the more enticing. With Lidstrom playing opposite him, his career would be salvaged and then some.

As per NHL11 standards, that would be a steal for the Red Wings.

The only things Helm has on Moss are age and speed. In terms of their effect on the ice, I'd put them at about even from what I've seen. Moss is a very good 3rd liner, and Helm (again, from what I've seen) seems to be as well.

I am not sure which one is actually faster, but Moss did win the fastest skater competition for the Flames.

Edge of Reality. You as a homer and an idiot if you do not know that Calgary is getting absolutely bent in that proposal.

For Calgary to even entertain an offer fro JBo from Detroit, it starts with Smith - who has yet to prove a damn thing at the NHL level - plus picks and perhaps an expiring salary dump. I also agree that with the continuous flow system employed in Detroit, Jbo would post better numbers than at any other point in his career.

No, YOU want to dump a salary in Hudler. With the cap going up to $64m, Detroit could add Bouwmeester at his current salary, Wisniewski at $3.5m (can't see giving him more than Stuart), Roloson as a backup at $2m, re-sign Eaves to a raise at $1.5m, and STILL have $1.7m in cap space:

Todd Bertuzzi ($1.937m) / Darren Helm ($0.912m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.500m)
Jan Mursak ($0.550m) / Justin Abdelkader ($0.787m) / Tomas Holmstrom ($1.875m)
Cory Emmerton ($0.533m)
