TSN: Roberto Luongo on the move?

Watching TSN'S Thats Hockey and they're speculating that Luongo could possible be dealt sometime this summer. Reda, Button and Dreger were discussing it. Vancouver has Schneider, is young and proven...and plenty of teams need to get to the salary floor.
One such team, ironically, was the Florida Panthers.

Discuss.

I just saw that too. I think Luongo stays in Vancouver.

Would the panthers want to pay 7 million for a 5 million cap hit? I don't know.

As a Florida fan, I wouldn't mind getting him back... but isn't he under contract for like 10 more years??

Florida could re-sign Vokoun and not be stuck with him for the next decade, nor would they have to give up any assets to do so.

Teams looking to get to the salary cap floor are not going to want to do it with players whose annual salary is higher than their cap hit.

It was mostly Button talking and he typically has terrible ideas, this was another one.

It was just speculation, you gotta fill air time. I saw it too though...Luongo to Florida lolololol. He'd have to waive his NMC but I don't think many players would do it for that team. It's not an actual rumour, they were just trying to connect the dots between Luongo moving and Florida having cap space, don't read into it.

Vancouver may want to get rid of him, but I can't see anyone taking his contract

Didn't Vancouver openly say they are willing to move Schneider? Are they going to trade both goalies this off-season?

How on earth is Cory Schneider anywhere near proven?

Pretty much what I was thinking. 2 million dollars might not be a lot to me and you( if it was actually necessary) but it's a lot to nhl owners.

I don't see it happening. What I perhaps see happening though is Luongo and Schneider splitting more games betweeen them

Not making a comment on Luongo one way or another but what exactly makes you say Schneider is "proven?"

The only place Luongo may be moving to is into a new house ...

He's not going anywhere with his contract even if Vancouver wanted to move him, and I don't think they want to.

The Panthers already have Markstrom who is going to be a star goalie. The same thing will happen to Luongo if he goes there. Passed by a youngster.

Better off going to a team like Colorado or even Tampa Bay.

LOL, come on now, this battered injured team went to game 7 of the Cup finals, now why in the hell would MG want any major changes???? he already said this team will mostly stay the same, and the plan will not change, RL is here for at least another 3, 4 years, then his NTC runs out around then IIRC.

What do you want more from him outside of more playing time?

He's just been amazing everytime he's been in.

Guy's better than 30% of NHL starter as of today!

There are plenty of Luongo haters around that would like to see him traded. I am not one of these people. I don't know what you are trying to say.

and i said "haters gonna hate!" a common internet phrase if you are not familiar with that.

Not going to happen unless Luongo wants to make it happen, he has a NMC.
