Why do u want jaybo so much? We don't need to trade our only center that is a pwf prospect for a d that is not woth the money. We can sign jw or jp and still have some money left over. Hudler is good to go.

Why would you want to take on Bouwmeester's contract? And him, for that matter?

The Wings are better off searching through free agency or even shopping in the trade market. This isn't the answer to the Wings' problems.

Bouwmeester might be a good player, but he has been signed to a rather expensive contract. Thus I do not see, why Detroit should trade an interesting prosepct, a talented (albeit currently disappointing) player and an upper draft pick, when they might be able to acquire one or two defensemen via free agency, which may not be more overpaid than Bouwmeester is. Of course, Holland stated that he would not throw money away for free agents, but four years ago, he signed Rafalski to an expensive contract and did not have to regret it.

Flames have zero interest in Hudler. Bouwmeester may be overpaid, but he's still a very good defenseman. You won't get him for a package like that.

their isnt one single UFA dman availble this summer who is better than Bouwmeester.

if jaybo was a UFA he would be the #1 sought after defencemen hands down

markov is the best available thsi summer but he will resign with montreal, has had his injuries as of late and is over 30.

ehrhoff isnt that good and will command 5.5 million for the next 5 years or so. this is a terrible contract for a very average dman

wisnewski has had one solid season and because of that will get overpaid. unless his contract is 4miilion or less its a ripoff.

kaberle? no thanks

pitkanen sure ok i can buy the notion of adding him so long as its no more then 4.74a season on a four year deal

sorry but jaybo would easily become detroits #1 dman(i am excluding lidstrom) and is signed for only the next 3 years. he would easily step in and play more minutes then anyone else in the lineup and in all situations. i think his lackluster #'s in calgary was more due to the system and personnel then ability/talent.

Do the Wings not want to make the playoffs or something?
That would be quite the streak to kill.

Why would you take this out of the existing "Bouwmeester to Detroit" thread, and why would you give up that kind of package for an him? I'll post what I did in the other thread here:

No, YOU want to dump a salary in Hudler. With the cap going up to $64m, Detroit could add Bouwmeester at his current salary, Wisniewski at $3.5m (can't see giving him more than Stuart), Roloson as a backup at $2m, re-sign Eaves to a raise at $1.5m, and STILL have $1.7m in cap space:

You think that Ehrhoff at 5.5 is worse than JBo at 6.68?
You are crazy man.

haha have you seen Ehrhoff play? he is at best a #3 dman on at least half the teams in the league. sorry but the guy simpy isnt worth any of the hype.

sorry but yes, that extra 1.2 a season for jaybo and what will be likely two less years(assuming ehrhoff signs for 5 years) is peanuts.

wisnewski will get more then 3.75 a season, if thats all he wanted he would be a HAB as of this second.

rollie is great but we are not paying a backup 225k less then our #1 goalie, garon, hedberg, etc will be who we sign.

Ya, I have seen both of them play... A lot.
12 times a year you could say.

And I would have Ehrhoff over JBo every single day of the week.

If Wiz wants that much per season, he'll probably be signing somewhere else. Like I said, I can't see giving anyone who'd be playing on the bottom pairing more than Stuart.

Roloson was just a plug-in at a relatively high cap hit to show that there doesn't need to be any salary dump to take on a Bouwmeester-sized contract; any goalie the Wings sign will more than likely be less than that.

I'm sure Calgary would take picks to dump JayBo's salary and go to free agency for replacement(s), rather than trade for something they may not need or want.

Change Bouwmeester to Regehr and we have a deal. Although I highly doubt Calgary would give up Regehr for a weak package like that.

Bouwmeester is worth more than Sheahan, Hudler, & a 2nd rd pick in 2011. Calgary has no need for a player like Hudler. Much more interested in a draft pick exchange:

Bouwmeester for DET 2011 1st, 2012 2nd, and F Tomas Tatar

You want one of the top forward prospects in hockey and two draft picks for a garbage, overrated d-man? What don't Calgary fans understand? Aside from one particular person here, NO ONE wants Bouwmeester, not even for a 7th. He's worse than the available UFAs, makes more than they will get, and has no heart.

I am no Bouwmeester fan, but give credit where it is due. Francise number 1 defensemen have a cost associated to them, even one that is underachieving. A top rated prospect and two picks is hardly highway robbery for an established No. 1 dman who still possesses lots of skill, is young, plays tonnes of minutes, and has offensive upside given the correct environment

Bouwmeester isn't worth the contract he is signed to. I would personally like to see Holland trade Hudler for a 4th round pick and go out and pick up Alex Tanguay to replace him.

That's great and all but Holland isn't giving up a prospect like Tartar for Bouwmeester's overpaid contract imo.

if you think pitkanen, kaberle, wisnewski or ehrhoff are better then jaybo then man you need to either play hockey a little more or talk to those who have.

yes jaybo is overpaid but to be honest, 70% of the leagues players are overpaid to one extent or another

i dont love jaybo, but i love him a hell of a lot more then the contracts that will be awarded to this summers ufa crop..
