It would have to be a huge overpayment because...

- His post season success has shot his value to the Boston Bruins through the roof.
- Heart and soul kind of player.

However he would fit in with any team WPG needs to target legit top 6 forwards, that being said I am not taking away anything from Marchand. Boston keeps him for years.

Giordano too. He's better and younger than Regehr.

Seriously? I know it will take more than he's worth but why Byfuglien? Enstrom > Byfgulien, aim higher!!

Evander Kane + 2011 1st

Calgary has nothing I'd want (other than Iginla but his cap hit is too rich for Boston)

Otherwise the 'party on skates' known as Marshmont will remain a Bruin for a lllloooonnngg time

I expect him to be locked up for a long time. He's way more valuable to the Bruins than his market value (which already skyrocketed after the playoffs).

Would the B's consider a deal for something involving Bouque?

Given he's had a great season and an ever better post-season I don't think the Bruins want to trade him, nor would teams want to overpay for Marchand and run the risk of being a one-season wonder. He'll be in Boston for quite some time.

No, he was asking for a potential proposal the Bruins might consider, not one that would make us all throw up in our mouths because it is so bad..

Marchand loves boston and he is one of 9 young key pieces who will be starts for a while, none of those 9 pieces are leaving any time soon, this isnt like the blackhawks thing last year

That would be intriguing to both sides on some level. Don't think it would happen, but I personally wouldn't rule it out if I were the GM.

What incentive is there for Boston to trade Marchand?

I get what your saying, but just to play Devil's advocate here, what salary demand from Marchand and his agent would sour the relationship and have them thinking of moving him?

It's not unheard of where a player who loves the city he plays in and goes on a tremendous run, boosting his value sometimes to the point of where the player/agent are seeking a huge pay day at all costs.

Just saying. The agent's job is to get his client the largest contract he possibly can and sometimes that's when those fan favorites are subsequently shipped out.

For the record, I know nothing of what Marchand's agent is like, but it wouldn't surprise me to see the agent over value his client after an eye opening run in the 2011 playoffs and make ridiculous demands. These things do happen in the world of sport.

That would almost guarentee you guys the cup next year. Enstrom is everything Kaberle should have been and then some. Winnipeg wouldn't touch that.

If either team wants him they give him an offer sheet. Calgary isn't giving up a future hhof'er for Marchand. No disrespect to Marchand though because I would love to have him on Calgary and he is one of my favorite players on Boston.

If they actually want him there's no point in sending an offer sheet. The Bruins have more than enough cap space.

I don't see Calgary making any trades to add to what they have. If they do trade I think they'd be trading off players to add picks and/or prospects.

Winnipeg, not really sure.

It happened one too many times by Habs fans in trade props in this forum. It got to the point that Habs fans thought the prop could get anything from an emerging star to an established one and multiple arguments on the greatness of said package would bring to the other team.

As for Marchand trade props? Wait until the halfway mark of the coming season and his value on this board will drop. He's the hot commodity right now and everyone's judgment is clouded.

Correction: They can OFFER him via the offer sheet. I'm realizing that I'm sort of the Offer Sheet police lately, but I continue to read how dismissive people are of the actual process involved with this route. GM's can't simply decide which RFA's they want to get via the offer sheet, they have to actually get that RFA to sign with their team (no different than a pending UFA), and then hope that it's not matched.

I think most people know this, but it's often dismissed because it's easier to just say "we'll simply offer sheet him" when other posters say the price is too high. For most players, agents, and GM's, the offer sheet is pretty far down the list in terms of available tools to acquire players. At most, it can be used as a threat to push a trade along (the Kessel trade), but I think most GM's would prefer to avoid it if they can.
