Curious to see the $$ amount here...maybe something like $1 and $1.5?

Great news! He will still be a RFA after his contract, right?

I like this team's future: G-Price, D-Subban and F-MaxPax. Happy about the signing!

Awesome news. I think a lot of us were not thinking this would be possible back in March when he was lying on the ice.

I am curious though, why are all the so called "easy" signings happening now? Guys like Pacioretty, Kostitsyn, Darce, Gill and rumored to be Weber?

Shouldn't PG be focusing on Markov and Wisniewski?

lol, just as I wrote I wanted him for 3.

2 is good though because he will be under contract during the Subban/Price 2012 summer.

Maybe he wants to see how much money he will have left?

I'd say 2,7M/2years(1,2 1,5)

Happy to see Pac got 2 years

EDIT : 1,5 1,75...more than what I expected, but not THAT bad.

They're easy. There's not much negotiation involved.

"Hey, Mathieu, I'm gonna give you a raise on a 1-year deal. Okay?"

"Okay."

I understand, but you would still think Gauthier should be spending his time negotiating with the big fish. No?

For all we know, he might have not even begun negotiating with Markov or Wisniewski yet.

I'll guess 1.5 M per year, either way it could be a major bargain for the next 2 seasons. Heck, even 3 M could be a bargain.

Dude was scoring at a 40 goal pace from the ribs scare in Buffalo in mid-January to his last game in early March.

I would think that Gauthier doesn't just talk to one player's rep at a time. He's probably been juggling conversations regarding every one of the players you mentioned. I would assume that the "easy signings" are happening before the bigger signings is because they are easier to pin down and have less moving parts than a longer term deal involving more money, NTC's and whatnot.

Hey Kostitsyn, I'm going to extend you for one season but I want you to work really hard this offseason and have a career year.

"I go out I score goal. I shoot puck at net. I score goal for team"

Yes yes you score goal, sign on the dotted line.

Also:

Hey Hal, you were solid for us this season and we want you back.

"I'm getting a raise though right? Come on I'm a leader and a vet"

Yes, we're ready to offer you 2.5 million.

"CHA CHING!!!.... erm uhm I accept this offer but on ONE condition! Throw in a years supply of free poutine"
