ehhh...Idk. I think NJD takes him. Strome would be the pick, imo. I wouldn't trade down past #5.
Well, if RNH goes 1 and Huber goes 2, then Ottawa would be trading up for Landeskog most likely. So the Devs would take Larsson obviously at #4. That leaves the Isles to choose from Couts, Strome, or someone else. For some reason I think they would take Strome, but that's just me. Obviously Tallon and his staff will have a better idea and they will have to judge what to do on a pick to pick basis if they are going to trade down.

This. Many scouts think once Strome fills out he could be the most offensively gifted player in the draft at the next level. If Tallon picks up another 1st, and we still have the 33rd pick, that would make for a huge draft. Of course, at this point it's all rumors anyways...
Anybody else think that after "The Blueprint" makes it's moves this off-season we're all going to be disappointed especially after Columbus acquired Carter and LA acquired Richards today?

A little bit, Im trying to keep an open mind though. Trying to be patient haha, hard to do though.

If we don't acquire anyone significant it will be cited as following the blueprint.
Don't expect ANYTHING big at all, that's how we roll. If we get something big, go crazy then, but don't expect anything special. We haven't been good in a decade, we're not getting good overnight.

For what it's worth, Nugent-Hopkins said he has an interview scheduled with FLA tonight. Wonder if there's a chance of FLA-EDM trade.

Scott Howson on Carter deal: "Our fans have been very patient, it's been 10 years now, and we just had to do something."

I think our guys would say something like: "Our fans are very patient, let's see how long we can keep that up?"
Granted we're more active on big trades at the draft than any other time but let's not get our hopes up. That way if something good does happen, we can be pleasantly surprised. Could be worse, we could be Philly right now.

Pretty sure they interview everyone that they might be interested in picking. From all the info I've gathered it seems Edmonton is open to trading the pick for a significant overpayment and I highly doubt we'll be doing that.
Philly got an amazing deal for Carter, then took too much coke and went freakin crazy.
Columbus got ripped. Jeff Carter? Really? That's your master plan? Carter is Horton glorified by one PPG year. Two seasons of 60 pt meh follow. Soft, streaky and the anti-clutch. You ever think you'll win with Jeff Carter?
And in return you give up a good young roster in Voracek who will himself be a 60-70 pt player but who actually has other strings to his bow and the 8th overall pick? 8th overall lies within the Elite 9 group. Pure madness IMO.

Thing is, Philly is now a player in B.Richards Sweepstakes and if they get him, they are probably stronger now than before the trades.

Yes, but they also have to hope they can pull that off plus if they do, they're gonna have yet another huge contract on their hands. Just seemed a little desperate and as much as I like Bryzgalov, he's not exactly the best option they had (i.e. Vokoun) for such a price.

Their numbers were pretty comparable this year, of course Bryz had a far better team in front of him, hence the playoffs (not to take anything away from Bryz). The bigger factor here was also age, as Bryz is several years younger, they want someone in their prime and for the long term. They were clearly sick and tired of hunting for goalies and there you go, 9 year contract.
Holy ****, what's going on in Philly?! I thought they would trade Carter, but not Richards too. Rebuilding? Schenn is a nice piece though. Wonder if Philly is going after Brad Richards now (haven't seen their cap after these trades though).
I've seen some rumors about Versteeg to Florida, and that the deal could be done today.
I think Philly would be looking for more picks. So try to trade some assets for the 8th overall Talon. Holmgren said something like: that they can't afford to lose more picks etc.

They have had numerious occasions to deal for Vokoun the last two seasons in which Tivo had said he would waive his NTC yet never made a deal. That also tells you what the Philly front office thinks of Vokoun.
