You are getting your knowledge from highlight videos?

He is a borderline disaster in his own end whereas Erixon rarely makes a mistake.

Would you rather have Mike Green or Ryan Suter?

Youtube highlights is not watching the game. You can make a Youtube vid of Marek Malik and make him look like a Norris Trophy winner.

Coin flip, I think both are great defenseman. If you want offense go with Green, if you want to defend a lead pick Suter.

I think if you polled people here, they would take Suter in a landslide.

How old are you? 15?

Suter is clearly better, but Green is an excellent player.

I'd go with Niedermayer vs. Stevens...

If you said Green/Suter is a coin flip, then how is Rundblad so far and away better in your mind than Erixon?

Rundblad is a very good player, I don't know why you guys are trying to make him sound like Erixon is LEAGUES better than him.

Both are very good d-men and I would have the biggest boner if that pairing wore blue.

Given the option of an offensive defenseman or a defensive defenseman of the same skill level, I will ALWAYS take the defensive defenseman.

DEFENSEman.

I agree with you about Suter and Green but the Niedermayer/Stevens comparison is a little extreme, unless you are talking about the young (Caps) Stevens.

Compare the defense partners. Mike Green gets Schultz and Poti, Suter gets Norris candidate Weber.

Of course.

Stevens was clearly the better defenseman; unless you were looking at stats when they were playing together in NJ.

Suter is the one that makes Weber look like a Norris candidate. He's better anyway. Take Suter away, and Weber isn't in the conversation; he'd still be a great defenseman, but not as good as he is now.

Taken from Prospect sites:

Quote:
Rundblad is an offensive minded defenseman with very good size and puck skills. He has impressive vision and likes to move the puck into the offensive zone with slick stickhandling and good speed. Handles the puck with confidence and has very good poise. A great option from the blueline, where he releases a fairly accurate shot and also find his teammates with tape-to-tape passes. Size and strength is good.
He won Hockey's Future prospect of the award.

This was predraft:

Quote:
One-Timer: The good-sized Swedish d-man is a beautiful skater, adept at making “coast-to-coast” plays on the ice. He is first and foremost a puck-moving blueliner, but given time to develop a more efficient defensive side to his game, should be become a well-rounded two-way defenseman. Rundblad could possibly sneak into the Top 10 of this draft, although a slide to mid- or late 1st round is more plausible.

NHL Player(s) Comparison: Mark Streit, Mike Green

We all think Rundblad is an awesome offensive defenseman. Erixon is just far better at defense. I like Rundblad and I would have the same chubby if we had both, lol.

If you asked Nashville fans, most would tell you that Suter means more to Weber's success than vice versa.

Agreed. I just don't think Erixon would ever approach the physical/mean play that Stevens had. That's why I picked Green/Suter as a comparison.

I disagree. Weber is an all star defenseman, nominated for a norris, played top minutes in the olympics for team Canada and is just better. He can handle his own weight.

All you have to do is watch Nashville, and it's clear that Suter is the better defenseman,

Weber is certainly more "marketable" -- it's the reason he's the one up for the Norris, and not Suter. He's big, Canadian, tough, has a huge shot, and is the captain -- he's "flashier" and more noticeable than Suter. Doesn't mean he's any better Suter.

Suter makes his living off his hockey IQ, smooth skating, and flawless positioning. Once Lidstrom retires, he's going to take over as the dominant two-way defenseman that every team wants to have. He's just such a damn good player, yet he doesn't get near the recognition he deserves.
