Wouldn't LA have been a great trading partner? They have excess young goalies.
From what I hear, Quick is gonna lose his job this year.
Trade Carter to LA for Quick and a 2nd.
Ya. Even something like Carter for Bernier + Simmonds + Pick could work.
In a cap world its nuts to give Goalies more than 5 million(With the cap increasing maybe that 5 goes a little bit higher, but not too much.), especially ones in their 30s who have a history or poor playoff performance like Bryz.
At the rumored 7.1 that would make Bryz the highest paid goalie in the league by almost a million bucks, and he is definitely not the best goalie in the league. In fact I can probably name at least 10 goalies I'd take over him right now.
Outta the top 10 highest paid goalies(cap hit wise), Luongo is the only one on a contender. Huet is in Switzerland and Giguere is making 6m to backup Reimer.
If Howard out performs the deal he just signed the highest Holland would go is something similar to Fleury's deal IMO and anything higher he would let him walk and rightfully so.
We'll have to see what Voracek does on the Flyers before we call it robbery, he has a lot of potential but hasn't shown that much yet. CBJ gets their #1 center (sort've) and a guy who will consistently get them around 30g/season.
yea i agree. that's a terrible trade for the jackets
I dunno, Voracek is an RFA and could be offer sheeted and re-acquired, possibly for as little as a 2nd round pick. Then you'd basically be trading a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Carter. Perennial 30 goaler with a high of 46, has a reasonable cap hit and is locked up permanently. Gives Nash a center and someone to pass to so other teams can't just put 4 defenders on Nash.
This is where someone needs to offer sheet Voracek and really stick it to Philly. Tee hee....

All CBJ does with this deal is jump St. Louis. They're still not close to DET, CHI, or NSH.

how much cap space does philly have now,
Jeff Carter's cap hit is 5.27 million, how much does it cost to give away just a 2nd, if its not great and philly still very close to the cap, I'd be all over an offer sheet for Voracek, I'd even go as far as offering him the Flip contract 5 yr 15 million. Does Philly have the cap space to still match that type of deal?

You say that, but I would keep a close eye on St. Louis. They got Stewart, Shattenkirk and they have guys like Oshie, Backes et al. who can be quite annoying. I wouldn't write them off for a playoff spot.
LOL Flyers are jokes. They stole CBJ then got stole by LA.
They definitely robbed the Jackets there. But Schenn (highly rated center), Simmonds (useful player to have) and a pick for Richards. You are getting rid of cap space and all the backroom ****. Stole is not the word I would use.
Wow, can't believe Holmgren moved both Richards AND Carter, makes my earlier posts look kind of stupid now. Philly fans are NOT happy though, not surprised really.
The Philadelphia Flyers are banking on Ilya Bryzgalov being the elite goaltender that they've sought for so long.
The 31-year-old, whose rights were acquired from the Phoenix Coyotes earlier this month, avoided free agency by signing a nine-year, $51 million deal with Philadelphia.
equals out to a 5.6 mil cap hit. a lot more reasonable than the rumored 7 mil. the length of the contract concerns me more than the cap hit
