Lets hope we don't ever have to find out. It might be the end of life as we know it.

I haven't seen much of him and I could be wrong, but he always seemed a bit soft to me for a defenseman. If that's the case then not particularly interested unless he's cheap, which it doesn't really sound like he is.

I'm going to stay on my Jovanovski horse until he signs elsewhere.

He's not a hugely physical guy, but he's not a softy either: 152 hits last year in 77 games (as point of reference, Hannan recorded 58 in 55 games with the Caps). He's also more steady as a shutdown defenseman than Jovanovski, who tends to take risks offensively.

Hejda might be a bit under-the-radar. If the Caps can't resign Hannan, he might be a good alternative.

Hejda plays a similar game to Jeff Schultz. Take that as you will.

Thoughts on Jamie Langenbrunner?

He kept both the Devils and Stars out the playoffs last season... impressive.

Not sure what the right price for him is.

Looks like Varly is all but gone to St Petersburg. Word is he's going to burn all bridges with his old club if he goes through with it.

It's a shame....world class talent, but wants to be handed the top job instead of taking it.

His biggest mistake was saying this:
Quote:
As I’ve already said, it’s my childhood dream. And I still haven’t really fulfilled it. I mean, I haven’t reached anything significant in this league. When I win the Stanley Cup, Vezina Trophy and the play-offs MVP title, I will tell myself that I succeeded in my NHL career, Varlamov stated to Sport-Express.
Basically if he ever comes back it's going to be hard for a team to simply accept his word on anything. He could have easily gotten away with going to Russia and left the door wide open for an NHL return if he didn't say the above quote.

Hemsky? Because that's what we need.

Not bad, not bad. But I'm fine with Semin over Hemsky. If you could add Hemsky without taking away Semin even better. Don't know how that would be done without moving Kuz though.

Yes to more net crashers and get some help on defense. We do this and we're serious contenders. If not crash the net, clear those corners. I'm interested to see how well Sjogren works out. I'm hoping he is a big nice surprise.

Hemsky is why I laughed hard at the post that said "semin to Edmonton".

damn ass question

In a few different places it has been suggested that Green is in play for a trade--

Are the caps looking to move him?

No rumors that I'm aware of.

I can't imagine his stock has been any lower than it is right now. Wouldn't be prudent to sell low, IMO.

My 2c on ej. If you read brooks' changes quote as an outsider not jaded by phrase, it's easy to jump to "major trade" rumors. Especially when it's backed up by Dash's buddy!

Yeah I know. I just can't wait until July 1 is over and see what teams do what trades. I have a feeling a bid war for marginal players will start and a few teams will wait until the fallout and make trades.
