So? It's incredibly anti-climactic given all the drama and leadup to the announcement. I'm sure when most of these kids grew up dreaming about being drafted they were imagining slipping the crest of the team that could change their live's crest on and not an NHL shinny jersey.

I realize it's nitpicking, I just think it would be amazing to see the jersey and logo unveiled on the spot on national TV.

I'm sure that the 18 year old that is drafted in the first round to a brand new franchise will be able to get past the 5 minutes of standing on stage with the generic uniform...

TSN already stated that they're not going to haw it by the draft.

I can tell you that the name of the team is going to be neither the Jets nor the moose. This is due to the fact that in the US those copyrights would have taken an extremely short period of time to transfer; additionally, they would have had th whole kitten kaboodle ready to go IMO.

That leaves one reason, copyright searhes and trademark searches on words are infinitely shorter than on logos or artwork. I have been doing online searches to see public doc indications, but haven't found anything concrete. Sometimes, the USPTO let's you search trademark apps under applicant name...

My guess: Haviland as Head Coach, Noel as Associated Coach.

#NHL news. #Winnipeg will soon announce decision of Claude Noel as next head coach. It was between Noel and Mike Haviland going into draft

Really wanted Haviland, but no complaints here. Congratulations and best of luck to Noel.

Okay, so now that the head coaches information/news has officially been leaked, of course we will wait for official announcement from the organization.

With that being said, it was speculated the news would come over the weekend, it's Thursday. Perhaps we'll know the name of the team soon too. I would say without any doubt that the team name will be released prior to the draft. I don't believe there is a single chance they make their selections without the name of the team being publicly in place.

He's a good coach... However, there's just something about him that I don't like... He seems cold and like the players may not like him too much.

Yup that would be Mr. Noel.

Personally, I like the hire. Noel really showed how to keep a team motivated during the AHL playoffs this year and clearly has experience working with a younger team given his experience with the Moose.

I think he's a solid hire given the state of the franchise, and he is well prepared for the oncoming tidal wade of scrutiny and attention coming the team's way given his familiarity with Winnipeg after the last 2 years.

I admit I don't know much about him, but all these 'friends' hirings could backfire.

That's really how the NHL works. Usually you need some sort of connection to your potential employer to even get a shot at an interview.

Personally, I believe that the hiring of Noel bodes better than Havelid, simply because of his familiarity with the organization and having worked with Zinger for the past year. Havelid would have been more of a "buddy" hiring from Chevy's days in Chicago.

My god... listening to some old interviews of Noel on youtube, and he reminds me of Paul Maurice in the way he speaks... which, depending on which day it is, annoys me.

I like the hire. He did well when he stepped in when he was in Columbus and he did well with the Moose as well. I don't think either of our final 2 choices would have been a bad choice.

Nobody likes cronyism, but having said that, 'friends' hirings often work much better than trying to throw together a hodgepodge of front office staff and coaches, and then just hoping they'll all get on the same page.

It's also hard to say that Noel wouldn't have earned this on merit alone. He has NHL head coach experience already, and won AHL coach of the year back in 2004. Take a look at the list of guys who've won that award, there aren't many that haven't had an NHL HC gig at some point.

I think Heisinger was really pushing for Noel and Cheveldayoff was really pushing for Haviland.

I'm really surprised Haviland didn't get it. He was the better option IMO.

This is the first move of TNSE's that I'm not a fan of.
