The Moose PP was atrocious under Noel. I hope that it doesn't carry over to the new team. It's pretty hard to screw up a PP with Enstrom and Byfuglien on the blue line.

You are correct. He was also their asst. coach for 3 years, in which he took over when Hitchcock was fired.

Noel is the right man for the job, the move shows loyalty to those in the organization, Noel is Canadian which means he understands how important hockey is to the market the team will play in and he is a good hockey man.

The last three Moose coaches are all still employed as NHL head coaches so I would guess TNSE had a pretty good idea of what to look for in a head coach!

Noel didn't have the luxury of a deep talent pool that previous Moose coaches had to work with so the job he did with what he had was commendable!

Claude was well-liked in Columbus, and there are many who didn't want to see him go. He owns the winningest record in CBJ head coach history.
He's also very entertaining. His press conferences could be psychedelic.

When the Nords moved to Colorado there was a similar situation. The new team didn't yet have a name but was known as the Denver NHL team. At the draft, they're table was labelled "Denver". It could be the same thing here. I hope not, though.

Noel was always their guy. That whole interview process was just for show. Don't like it.... but whatever. Please don't screw up the name (by calling them the Manitoba Moose) and our first pick too.

+1

My thoughts too. I have to wonder how much autonomy Cheveldayoff really has to make decisions.

I agree... soon as i found out that it was the Moose owners who bought the thrashers team, Claude Noel was the worst kept secret as head coach we all knew it was coming

Why did he leave Columbus?

Nice article on Noel, bet the Blue Jackets would rather have Noel as their head coach if they could have a do-over!

Why is it so hard to believe Noel was the best option?
He has NHL experience, a solid track record, and he's a known quantity to the management group.

From what I hear, he's an elite communicator and teacher. Both very important qualities for a young team.

As for the suggested "dog and pony show" that was the coaching search, it was prudent for the group to go through the due diligence and I think any complaints raised are really nit picky.

good coach for this young team - I wish True North would have spent more time and capital for this draft than worry about our coach. This decision could have been made after the draft. The team, logo and jersey should have been a higher priority. WPG looks completely disorganized. I wonder how the ATL scouting dept will shove it to the new WPG owners?!?

Draft jersey chosen, will not be the teams jersey or logo.

Winnipeg's first draft pick will be given black and grey NHL sweater, per Craig Heisinger.

Unless your Canadian you wouldn't understand! All the Canadian NHL teams have Canadian born coaches!

In no way am I implying that American born NHL coaches are not good, a couple of the best NHL coaches ever were American!

I'm fine with everything that team has done up to this point, but this team name thing is getting out of hand.

it's every hockey players dream to be drafted into the NHL, imagine walking up there and having to put up a generic NHL jersey rather then be the first draft pick to wear the Winnipeg/Manitoba xxxxxx jersey? we all know it might not always be easy to attract free agents, how is a hopefully future star for our team going to feel? every kid that's draft says how great it feels to first put on an NHL team sweater, and we're denying our first draft pick of that.

Oh. My. God.

IT DOESN'T MATTER.It's been done before and the players didn't seem to give a ****. The fact that they're getting drafted is what matters, not that their team doesn't have a name/logo yet. It's not like we won't have one for our first game. Can we drop it now ?

a player comes to our organization and we don't even have a team name. we've been working on getting one for a few years, but it never came up? it seems very amateur to me. I don't want players have that be one of their first impressions of our team.

How on earth is the jersey and logo more important than the HC?

That is just asinine.
