The strange part is that... 8 teams in some divisions and 7 in others... How the hell is that fair?
Check out the AHL divisions/conferences. They even have a goofy "transfer" spot for 5th place teams in the 8 team conference, the 5th place team can bump the 4th place playoff team in the 7 team division (within conference only).
I guess that's what happens to a stone-faced rat after years of no emotion. He tried valiantly... But his face shattered seconds after that picture was taken.
Come on now, Canada got their team, leave Bettman alone to keep working on those fringe markets! Canada will probably get another one by the looks of a few franchises. Last resort is to send them to Canada, where the population is a 10th of the States and super risky to move to. Every Canadian city (with a team) can't afford to have to clean up after their rioters every time they get deep into the playoffs and lose...
Wouldn't be surprised to see Bettman expand the NHL to 32. That's the only thing that makes sense, he's the commish, he's gotta make it fair for everyone.
I predict one of those expansion teams would be Quebec.
Maybe Balsillie will get a team in Hamilton? With Bettman coming out and saying he would still allow Balsillie to buy a team, it makes sense. Plus, I don't think Balsillie would settle for a team located anywhere but Hamilton.
I could see them going back to Atlanta if they had a strong owner willing to stick it out to keep a team there.
