Are we looking at any draft trades, i have a feeling a really good player, like Teemuish could come in rounds 2-5. I would love to trade for more pics
Could Jaromir Jagr be close to returning to the NHL?
Petr Svoboda, the agent for the 39-year-old forward, told ESPN.com that three teams -- the Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings and a third, unnamed team -- are the potential choices for Jagr.
since we're the only unnamed team in the league... (yes this is a joke)

maybe we take a late round pick on Michael St.Croix local kid.....his dad is our goaltending coach
Just watched a clip from TSN (right hand side of page, titled DraftCentre: Name Game) and Darren Dreger said Kevin Cheveldayoff was interested in Mike Richards (common sense says, most GM's would be) and said the asking price from our end was Evander Kane + a variety of draft picks.
As for Bogosian, Dreger said a quick "Don't think so" when asked if he may be moved.

im glad we didn't do that trade, ill gladly take Kane and our draft picks over Mike Richards
Regarding pending UFAs, hopefully TNSE are willing to spend a bit on a guy like Vern Fiddler as a veteran player to fill out a forward spot while we build a team via prospects. He is a Western Canadian, and, while he won't score a ton of points, he is a defensive demon, and a great PK player. Please sign Vern Fiddler next weekend. Atlanta was 29th overall in goals against last season; we need a vet to teach them defensive responsibility by example.
It's kinda deceptive...The old one was aready around 900 posts last week. Standing HFBoards policy is threads get locked at 1000 posts and a new thread is started.

If that is the case, I am VERY glad we didn't make that deal. Richards is a great player. But we are not in a position to deal away Kane, AND a variety of picks.
A team like LA can do that because they have excellent organizational depth due to their drafting success over the last few years.
Yeah, I want to bring in an big time center but not at the expense of the best piece we have.. glad Chevy didn't do that. Mike Richards would be hard to cheer for anyways.
I like that you have Vrbata on the second line with Kane and Burmistrov. I think he would produce with those two.
I don't know if Cormier and Klingberg are ready for a full season at the NHL level yet. (We will see at training camp). We might need to role with guys like Maxwell and Stewart on our 3rd line if those guys are not ready (or more FA's).
I like pairing Enstrom with Bogo because I think Bogo needs to be with someone who can help him gain some confidence.
I think that Oduya is someone that this team could hopefully turn into a pick. At some point we need to open a spot for Postma or Kulda and he's the logical choice to go. We just need someone to take him off our hands......

Alright, so "my boy" Anton Byström didn't get drafted. A solid two-way forward with good work ethic that I expect to be in the starting lineup of Modo in the SEL pretty much every game next season.
The Jets need a top-6 RW and need to get to the new salary floor, so... this would do the franchise good: a short term move (ONE YEAR ONLY) that costs little in the grand scheme (He's a UFA not RFA), buying the team time to see who fits and who doesn't before signing anyone to a longer term deal.
Not a big Jagr fan, myself. But, we don't need to shed 10 million on him in order to reach the cap floor. We currently sit at $35,941,666 with Ladd, Wheeler, Bogosian to sign. Them alone will likely be approx $9-11 million, thus bringing us to approx. $45-47 million. Then, we could sign Stewart, Schremp, Boulton, etc. Or, if not them likely other guys via UFA or maybe trade.
I don't really see the need to give Jagr 10 million. He isn't worth it, and given we'll likely be nearing the cap floor after we've got our own guys signed.
I wouldn't give Jagr 3 million let alone 10
He isnt needed here
all he would be good for is to draw fans to the arena....
and as we all know that isnt an issue at the moment.

Jagr definitely fills a need -- RWs are a big need on this team. But a 38 year old one? No thanks. A 1 year stop gap doesn't do much of anything for this team, as they certainly won't be legitimate cup contenders next season.
