I'm firmly in the "do not want" camp WRT Cam Barker.

We've already got good depth on defense, with prospects like Kulda and Postma who can step into the 5th/6th dman role that Barker would probably end up filling, and they'll do it for much cheaper. Whatever UFA signings we make should be focused on shoring up the forward depth.

Barker is arguably the worst hockey player of all time.

Barker has regressed since being traded from Chicago to Minnesota.

That's because you don't have a million bucks

It's risk/ reward. Neither you nor I know just what Barkers situation is. I'm sure IF Barker gets bought out, TNSE will assess the risk and see if it's worthwhile.

I would be surprised if NO ONE gives Cam another try. If they don't, you know his situation is dire.

Don't know. But we are extremely thin at RW now. Thorburn is signed for 3 years and Wheeler should be here for at least a year. Stewart should be able to find a team. Can be a solid addition to someones 3rd line. Not great defensively but can add some scoring even though he has nubs for hands.

Holy crap! So I guess he's not in the team's plans? You gotta wonder if the Jets brass have something planned, as we are already thin at RW, no?

Dumb decision if they let Stewart go. He is a handy 3rd liner and is not making much so don't understand why wouldn't they qualify him.
The only reason I could think if that he let Chevy know he isn't keen on relocating to Winnipeg

I wouldn't call it a dumb decision until we see what Chevy and the guys have planned.

It's definitely an odd move considering the circumstances. I could see Chevy doing a similar retool of the roster this offseason that Dudley did last year, just maybe not as extreme since Dudley added two huge pieces to the roster in Ladd and Buff.

Matt D'Agostini was not qualified by St. Louis. Maybe a possible replacement at RW? Just a thought. There might be some others as well.

That's another one that could help sure up our bottom 6 and add some depth.

Stewart was just starting to turn his game on.. Oh well, at least now we can replace him with someone who has hands.

Buff to RW now??

Does not compute. Then again, Zherdev is one of my favorite players, so I'm not one to talk.

Btw, I would love to get D'Agostini here on a 1 year deal. He had a very solid year last season with STL and is very versatile. Can PK, play PP, and put up 20-20 numbers. He'll probably be cheaper than Upshall, too.

Its still a dumb decision even if Chevy signs a better player as a replacement. What's wrong with re-signing Stewart even for depth purposes. This team is already thin at top 6 right wings and has little to no depth in the minors.
