which teams might be interested and what might the offers look like? could columbus be in play or Ottawa?

I don't know if i would want Kessel to be traded away this quick. He may not be the cornerstone of this franchise but young consistent 30+ goal scorers don't grow on trees. Having said that even if Toronto was to consider trading him to another team it will be no short of overpayment and no im not over valuing a Leaf player.

no need for personal attacks... when teams show interest, it's safe to assume that there may be an offer on the table. this board has had many threads that were based on much less than this. If you have nothing positive to add, which you clearly don't, then stay out.

This certainly offers credence to the supposed rumors Kessel dislikes Ron Wilson. They tried to discredit that video, which was pretty damning but if a trade is being considered, then I have to imagine Burke is reevaluating if Kessel is who he wants to make the franchise. It has to be the Kings. There is no other player Burke has coveted more than Brayden Schenn. My only question is where will Toronto's offer come from? Grabovski's line can only do so much. I suppose Leaf nation may have another slow here if this happens but a hell of a future.

I would hope Ottawa would be interested if he's available....a Landeskog-Spezza-Kessel line would be scary...

After watching the video i doubt it is anything. It is a team asking if he is movable no more no less. I doubt he goes but I am not Burke and if he does go it is for a center.

Why? I would rather not trade a talent like Kessel. Build around the guy.

If Burke does that, he might just end up being the dumbest GM in the NHL.

You don't trade a proven top 6 winger for 2 unproven assets. Columbus supposedly has only Nash as their untouchable player according to Howson, if you are picking a Jackets winger, why the hell are you picking Filatov over Voracek? Lol, I mean do you seriously like Filatov better than Voracek at this precise moment?

Getting the 8th overall + Voracek for Kessel and whatever late pick seems a little better, maybe a tiny bit in favor of the Leafs.

Well, not necessarily. If we deal Kessel for a number one, we could move Lupul back to his natural position of RW and sign a free agent left winger, maybe Laich, Jokinen or someone else.

They only way Kessel gets traded is if Burke decides to scrap his plans and restart the build. There may be a few teams interested in him, but I very much doubt he is moved at all.

If he moved Kessel he'd better be getting back more of a sure thing than Filatov. The only way I could see him moving Phil would be for a similar aged player that is putting up similar points right now.

yeah were no where near this conversation the only thing that fits here is that we have enough salary cap to fit him in other than that were not involved

This. I find he's doing it more and more these days and he seems to be off on a lot of things (i.e. the whole thing about Kaberle likely only getting a 2nd and a B-level prospect at best; disputing the Winnipeg story when Sportsnet broke it first, rather than investigating, etc.).

Basically, Dregs knows he's hot **** in Toronto because he's an "insider" so he can get away with saying a lot to get attention. This, frankly, is nonsensical. Of course other teams will make offers for Phil Kessel, as they have over the past 2 years, but it likely won't amount to anything.

Not to mention that Brian Burke's reputation lives and dies by Phil Kessel and his time in Toronto. That trade was a gusty one and admittedly lopsided for Boston. Brian's ego was hurt by the fact that he had misjudged his team so badly and for that reason, he'll keep Kessel around - just to shut up everyone who says he regretted the deal after he made it.

So really, there's nothing to see here. Move on folks.

If this was the case I would commend Burke. #1 Center IMHO is the hardest position to fill in hockey. Closely followed by a steady PMD and a legitimate 65 game starting goalie.

Schenn has to be the most over-rated prospect ever to hit HF since Cody Hodgson.

I don't see Burke trading Kessel no matter how big the offer is (obviously guys like Crosby aren't going to be offrered).

Burke and Kessel are going down with the ship.

This may be true but Brayden Schenn is not gonna be a top line center. I'm a Col fan but i'm confident between these brothers the talent is in T.O.

I cant see it even getting looked at unless its pretty well the same value or more than what we paid.

Would La move: Schenn + 2012(1st) + 2012(2nd) or Schenn + Simmonds + 2nd???? doubt it. Thats worse than what we gave up; clearly. But i cant see Burke even thinking about it unless its something mind blowing.

Yeah, the Kings couldn't use a 30-40+ goal winger not even in his prime yet to run shotgun with Kopitar and make the PP better.....

I tend to agree, although if *some* team offered a great package for Kessel he would have to consider it. Besides, it's likely Kessel outlasts the likes of Ron Wilson on the Leafs anyway.

Even then, no. Why would he trade a young player who already has 3 straight 30 goal season under his belt and who is locked up for a few more years yet for futures? Teams may sniff around but they will never give up what Burke will want for Kessel. I think trading him for just futures will be a step back. This team needs to take steps forward at this time.
