Pahlsson would be the one I'd trade between the three.

My enthusiasm has been slightly curbed by LA getting a better deal for a better player then we got.

Homer is obviously not mentally fit to be a GM. Howson should have tried to get more out of him.

I'm not sharing the exuberance of most on here, but at least this will keep us from shooting ourselves in the foot for a Center in free agency.

Nash - Carter - Juice (I really hope they find someone better)
Calvert - Brassard - Umberger
Johansen - Vermette - Kubalik
Mackenzie - Pahlsson - Dorsett/Boll

Hejda - Clitsome
Methot - (insert FA here)
Savard - Russell

Again, this is a really rough sketch and it might not be even close to what it might look like in a month, but this is a much better team to me.
I still prefer keeping Johansen at center. Anyone think we might sign Upshall now?

Good trade... I don't care what people say. If you guys could grab a playmaking RW you'd be set for your top 6.

Nash-Carter-xxx
Huselius-Umberger-Vermette

Something like that... Although that's a lot of left handed shots on the 2nd line haha.

Absolutely agree, RD. And for my ultimate dream, our buddy Lil' Nikki has an epiphany and turns into the kind of player we've all imagined he could become and fills that other wing with flash and speed! Hey, if GMSH can get Carter here, aren't all things possible?

...Holy ****ing ****.

I step away from my computer for all of one hour and this (AND the Richards trade) happens.

Geez, I really hope the blueline is next.

Im not against with this

Nash Brass Carter
OR
Nash Johan Carter (eventually)
OR
Nash Carter Brass

Possibilities...possibilities...Philly just did a really dumb move with Richards though.

Cetainly one of our centers gets moved now right? I also think this might open Filatov's eyes a little as his opportunity to play in the top 6 may have increased with this move (only if they move a center to another team and not the wing.....)

I just "won" the O'Voracek Jersey this year damnit! Time to hit the Flyers board and see if someone wants to buy it for a buck or two...

Can't believe they moved Richards too. I wonder if the option was there to get Richards or Carter and we chose Carter (who I think has bigger upside offensively and is very good in the faceoff circle).

Flyers fans have to be scratching their heads right now. Lose two top line centers in 30 minutes..... Get younger and smaller and sign a goalie that's not likely to hold that team high enough for the stanley cup.....

Go Jackets

Totally forgot about Filatov....this definitely opens up a spot for him. His eyes better be lighting up.

How? IMO, the Kings gave up more than we did.

i meant that richards could be had for what the kings gave up makes ours look less special.. i wasn't directly comparing what each team gave up, but instead what was given up for the player coming back and when you do that it looks like philly got a lot better return from us.

They did get a better deal from us but I dont care. I mean Jake is the best asset but Schenn and Simmonds make up the difference. Plus Carter > Richards offensively and thats what we need.

Couple thoughts... I understand the thinking of having Carter center Nash. But why not try them on two different lines? We would have goal scoring depth. Then unite them on the pp. Just a thought. Also-We gave up less than the Kings did. I'm happy with what Howson did. Man I keep expecting this to be a joke. When are the Carter sweaters ready???

There was talk last week somewhere, Carter was upset that his name was brought up in rumours of getting traded to CBJ. Now that he sees Richards also has been dealt, he probably feels a little better!

LA also gives up 2nd round

So i don't think there was any advantage either way.

Love this trade! I like the idea of putting Johansen on a wing if it keeps him in Columbus. That is assuming he doesn't nail down one of the center slots.

Having said that, I think this trade makes Brass and Vermmy better players since they will be put in a better position to succeed.

Big opportunity for Filly to finally blossom, and would like to see GMSH sign Upshall to plug into a better scoring 3rd line.

Dude, totally agree. Brassard can easily be our #2 for a long time. Or if Johansen is really as good as they say, move to wing or center an amazing #3 scoring line with Calvert and Mayorov or Kubalik.

I'm sorry, I just can't get excited about this deal. Not right now.

Remember the Tyutin trade at the time it happened? That's the feeling I have right now. Like we went after the wrong thing and created a major hole to do it.

Granted, that time the hole was plugged almost immediately afterwards with the Huselius signing. And in the end it turned out awesome for us. And I suppose we can probably pull in a free agent or two this way. But right now, I'm not in a celebratory mood. Not at all.

Right now, I'm worried. I'm very very worried. And I really, really, really hope this works out.
